All pop histories should be recorded this way! The opening is slow going, but once you feel submerged in the scene, you feel like you're there. The ending is heartbreaking. (Music; 300 pages)

MUST READ THIS BOOK. A wonderful exposition of research data interpolated with Steingraber's pregnancy story. Never boring, always fascinating, usually anger-inducing.

This book was insightful and had tidbits of great info about how dogs view the world and interact with people. It's written more like a scientific paper, so it was a little dry and took me a while to get through. Hayden and Amadeus are happy though since i'll be more patient with them when they want to smell something "gross" on the NYC sidewalk.

** spoiler alert ** On the Edge is book one in Kallysten’s Paranormal Erotica Series, On the Edge. This book has a great story, writing, and HOT sex scenes. Definitely a keeper on the Top Erotica List. The book is named after the night club and the owner and manager is Brett, a human. His girlfriend, although she hates being called that, is a vampire named Lisa (Elisabeth). The two have been together for a year and are very happy. (view spoiler)

I was very disappointed by Michael Frayn's last book, Headlong, undeservedly shortlisted for the Booker Prize. But Spies is up there with The Trick of It: a complicated, subtle story about what happens when two boys' fantasies during World War II intrude into reality, with terrible and unforeseen consequences. What starts out as a silly game, pretending that the mother of one of them is a German spy, becomes a serious story about loyalty, courage, and truth. Highly recommended.
What the future POTUS's gameplan for the Obama administration will be.
In the earlier days, I read everything from Loren Cunningham. In fact, he was so inspirational, one of the rooms in the Jovenes Conference Center was called "the Loren Cunningham room".
i actually liked it when i read it. i think his language is very compelling and his voice is certainly visceral and catching...but it doesn't stand up to the kind of exhaustive re-readings i put books through.
great classic! What an excellent book with a theme WAY befoe it's time.

This was a fun read. Recently rediscovered Mayle years after Year in Provence. He writes with clever humor and an easy style. Learned something about wine making, the French view of Americans and English. Wish I could visit the vinyard and chateau in this story.
