This book was definitely a guilty pleasure. I felt like a teenage girl reading it. I gave it three stars because I still want to find out what happened. Unfortunately I just found out this series has quite a few books so it may be a while before I get some answers.

Roarke, Billionaire & Eve Dallas, homicide cop are still in the getting to know you, move in together, love you maybe stage when the latest murder case impinges on their lives. Roarke knows too many people and once again they are being murdered. We also are witness to the first steps of Peabody on the way to becoming a detective and the beginnings of the friendship between Eve & Nadine Furst, Channel 75 Head Crime Reporter. Uncharacteristically, Eve pressures the wrong suspect and an innocent family is torn up. However, it isn't long till the penny drops and she is hot foot after the right crim. Once again a great mystery but a better romance with characters with depth.
Incredibly interesting, largely entertaining and immensely educative - it's made me want to take off on my own grand voyage and made me realize how little of the world I've seen and how little of the life I've experienced!
this book is mesmerizing. i am in love with henry. i could not put this book down, but i never wanted it to end.

Great Historical read, But too convoluted a plot. A little overdone, but an excellent read into the minds of those who wrote oour constitution! Balanced on the second ammendment overall.

I saw Jonathan Safran Foer speak at a reading a couple of years ago, and he mentioned that there are a lot of books that you read and like, or even that you love, but there are only very few books that you read and you feel as if they were written especially for you. I felt like this book was written especially for me. One of the central characters is a nerdy 13-year old girl interested in politics and journalism; her best friend starts out as a tape cutter at the public radio station and ends up an animator of magical realist films and Super 8mm home movie hobbyist; almost all of the adults in the book are neurotic UofC alumni; and the city of Chicago is so beautifully written it's a major character in and of itself. How many nostalgia points does that hit for me? Yep, that's right. It also has some of the funniest, most vivid writing I'd read in years, and is really elegantly structured (surprising for a novel about 13-year olds in 1980--not the most elegant time period or age group). The characterizations are so strong--my friends and I sometimes find ourselves talking about Muley Scott Wills and Michelle Wasserstrom like they were people who went to high school with us. The world of this novel exists, fully realized, intricate, and suspended in time. At one point in the book Muley begins to animate over film footage he's taken of his neighborhood, with the goal of creating a film that "would illustrate all of the invisible borders that existed between" he and his friends, family, and neighbors. That might actually be a good way of describing the goals of most of my favorite books, and I think it's something this novel succeeds in doing, spectacularly.
3rd book , great series but the least pleasureable of the 3 books. I liked these books , not just for the story , but for the authors explorations into religion , socio-politics , technology and science , philosophy etc ; but in this book he became a bit obtuse and was difficult to follow decreasing my pleasure. I am not afraid of difficult books , but when you stack existential abstractions upon eachother endlessly , it all becomes unwieldy and meaningless. There was much more profundity and lucid prose in the first two books. My strained brain aside , the story line was pretty cool and sets a strong foundation for the next three books. I do look forward to them. I still gave this book a 3 , which is a GOOD in my book 1- Bad 2- Not so Good 3- Good 4- Very Good 5- Wow !
