Really good, really creepy. A Classic.
beautiful story about love, family and friendship- must read for all girls.
This book gets 5 stars just for being so beautiful. The fonts, illustrations, and lay out made me gasp with joy. Additionally, this books is also entertaining, funny, well-written, and informative. Includes the history of the plant, the zone it is grown in, how to care for it, how much and what to do with the produce. Uncommon Fruits for Every Garden by Lee Reich and Vicki Herzfeld Arlein is an excellent companion to this book if you are interested in this subject.

An amazing book, by the coolest person ( other than Jesus ) to ever live !
Id like to like this book more. I did want to find out about her mother and who did the shooting. And that kept me reading and interested. But i disliked the book from about page 10 and didnt like it much more having finished. Two main criticisms: Kidd never explores or resolves the disparities in Lily's percpetions of middle class lighter skinned Black women and her Black mammy. Also, I cant figure out why White people feel Black women are falling over themselves to take care off unwanted White children. This is like number one among myths of Black American women. I'm just not comfortable with this book. Also, i have to agree with the failure in tone. It started out well as an child's voice, but by half way through I couldnt figure out if it was supposed to still be a 14 yr old or a 24 yr old speaking.

It's one of those things I often don't admit, because it's such a shameful thing within my friend circle, but from time to time I actually, sort of...like country music. Not all of it! Don't judge me! Anyway, I've always liked Alan Jackson; he just comes off as very humble and "down home." So naturally, I thought a nice look into his private life might be interesting. In short, it was interesting enough, and I appreciated the christian message his wife employed and all...but it was extremely hard for me to relate to her. She spent a little too much time in the beginning talking about how pretty she was, how rich she was, and how everybody wanted to be her in high school. Not the way to gain sympathy Mrs. Jackson! Especially from someone who was tortured by girls like that in school. I believe though, that her experiences did humble her in the end, and I came to like her a bit more by that point.

I enjoyed "Angela's Ashes" more but the sequel was still as interesting as the first.

not bad. but I do not like it very much.
One of the best book titles, and reread regularly by me. A stream of consciousness novel with a huge heart, the partially autobiographical account of the early part of a young womens affair (that ended only decades later after the birth of Smarts 4 children) with a married poet. Deserved a place in the Canadian canon.

I read this after the cat was out of the bag so I viewed it as fiction. I thought the writing was horrible and the story did not flow and I didnt care about any of the characters.
