Most of the superhero stuff that's come out since this was written is strongly influenced by the Watchmen (c.f. The Incredibles, X-Men, etc.). Pretty cool, was the one of the first comics to take the idea of superheros and run with it, to say "what if they showed up in the real world". Good stuff.

I'm finding it troublesome to finish this book. Therefore, Tigerheart is currently on hold, while I read something more interesting.

One of my favorite books that I read in 2006. It was one of those books that I passed onto my mom and she enjoyed it as well.

How to Run a Theater by Dr. Jim Voltz This book was the most complete and informative book on the subject that I have read thus far. It is definitely targeted at an income range that my starting out theater has not yet reached, however, as I intend this to go big, I don’t mind that so much. I did however mind, Dr. Voltz’ condescending and manipulative descriptions of management techniques. Oddly enough, he seems to be a genuine enough guy, but a few of the practices that he suggests make him lose credibility in my mind. I’ve successfully run million dollar per month grossing for profit companies with more respect for my employees than he suggests you give some of these brilliant artists working for less than nothing in a non profit field. It’s strange. Yet, at the same time he is a huge advocate for the artist. I wish I could say it were something lost in translation.

This entry wasn’t quite as funny or memorable as the original book, I Can Has Cheezburger? However, Lolcats fans will still get their feline fix.

What a book! It's the not-so-simple story of a servant turned businessman and the drastic steps he takes to make this change. It is a dry, painful and painfully funny account of modern India and the confused class structure and insane political corruption as seen through the narrator's eyes. It reminds me a lot of Richard Wright, James Baldwin or Ralph Ellison but with a much more absurd approach. Highly recommended to anyone.

I had recently read a book by this author and thought I'd try this one. I liked it in the beginning. When I got to the middle I almost stopped reading it, but by the end, it was better than I thought it would be. I know, high praise indeed. But at least I didn't hate it.

This whole series is nothing earth-shattering, but when other series are never ending with a body count higher than the word count, it's nice to read something that ends well.
I wanted to read this book now, when pregnancy seems a long way off for me, in case it scared the crap out of me. But I would actually say that it is "safe" for women to read while pregnant--it won't feed your paranoia any more than it probably already is being fed by the national media (I'm thinking recent press coverage of caffeine, anyone?). Steingraber is a biologist who writes luminously for lay audiences interested in environmental health and toxicology. If you liked the movie _Erin Brockovitch_, you will like this book! It provides useful information on the experience of pregnancy in a format that devotes each chapter to a month of the experience. She explains the difference between "biological" time and the "pregnancy clock" used by your OB/Gyn; she offers an extremely lucid lit review of the (then-)current research on morning sickness; she extols the benefits of breast-feeding; she explores possibilities for non-traditional childbirth options and the history of the medicalization of pregnancy and childbirth...And more.
