My introduction to Faulkner. Well worth the initial trouble in getting sucked into the difficult voices. "My mother is a fish." the best chapter in literature. ever.

This was my least favorite of the vampire chronicles. So much time wasted, and it was evident that she tried to get this one out quickly due to demand.

My favorite book of all time; I used to read it annually. I think I am due up for another read.
I would give this book 3.5 stars if I had the option. It was good, I really liked Ceecee and all the other Savannah women for that matter. I wanted to live in Aunt Tootie's house with them. There were a few too many similarities between this and Secret Life of Bees though, and I kept waiting for something big to happen...it seemed the story was leading up to a climax several times, but I never felt it reached one at all. It was a sweet story though, and I'd recommend a friend read it if they want a feel good, southern, female oriented, coming of age read.

This was my toilet reading for about a month: I read it only when I was in the toilet. Like most of the "Introducing..." series, the book leaves you with more questions than answers. Which isn't so bad, really, coz then you have more of an incentive to pick up the primary texts themselves. And it's sometimes helpful to get a more casual intro before taking up a difficult author. I learned a few facts about Foucault that I did't know about before. Also, I enjoyed the humor in a few of the drawings.
Read the first half non-stop (maybe because I was trapped on a plane for several hours with nothing but the airline mags?) and (really, not because of the plane thing) enjoyed it. However, by the end Tan's narrator became a little tiresome and I ended up skimming thru several chapters - even now, I'm not sure I actually read it to the end. Two and a half stars.
A girl plants some seeds and a community garden forms. A good book to examine how one persons actions can affect an entire community.

A surprisingly interesting book from many different perspectives and areas of expertise: from architecture to history to murder mystery. It's really pretty much an awesome book. Very hard to put down.

The third, and final, book in the Montana Skies series, Hailee was a great conclusion to this very sweet trilogy. Breaking away from sister’s McKenzie and Kaydie a bit, this book focuses on their sister’s son, Nathaniel(Nate), and Hailee Annigan. Nate is a minister, and Hailee a teacher searching for her two younger brothers she lost contact with several years before. While Nate and Hailee grew up vastly different—Nate with all the comfort and ease money could buy, and Hailee a dirty ragamuffin on the city streets. Yet both wind up in Pine Haven, Montana, both are newcomers...and each is attracted to the other. Yes, it made for a very sweet love story as they slowly grew acquainted, courted, and finally married. The twist of his mother coming to visit, Peyton, was really interesting and I loved the closer this book gave to the last Worthington sister. Hailee—and the two previous ones in the series, McKenzie and Kaydie—is an easy, Christ-centered and clean book with a great story, perfect for all ages. Nothing questionable and a series I will be passing on to my younger sisters (who are approaching teen-hood very quickly! ;-) The writing style was easy to read and I found myself flying through the pages. The flashback scenes were rather lengthy, but maybe that’s because I’m the type who always can’t wait to see what’s around the next bend in the story. Through Penny Zeller’s writings, the town of Pine Haven Montana comes to life. Filled with characters that are hard to forget (and if you’ve read either of the last two books, you know Lucille is pretty unforgettable! *smile*) All in all, a very pleasant read!
