One of the best Indian viewpoints I have read on the battle of the Little Bighorn. Marshall has visited, listened, researched and understood this piece of history very well.

done! the author seems to learn life lessons only to wake up the next morning with seeming amnesia and just goes on with life as though no revelation has happened. i give it three stars because it wasn't a total waste of time. there are some really interesting parts in the book....but is it worth wading through all 933 pages? i did!

Ultimate brain candy read. A story of a middle class high school girl from the midwest who goes away to a New England boarding school. Not a classic in any way, but I read the book in two days and was very entertained. The author does a great job of capturing the mindset and emotional insecurities of a teenage girl.
hard for me too get into at first but ended up loving it....
Stargirl is a really good, unique book. I love it!

I'm a Stranger Here Myself leans toward a particular sense of humor, and I could easily imagine finding this book to be only mediocre. Fortunately for me, however, Bryson's sense of humor is also my sense of humor--I laughed until I hurt. I read maybe 5 or 6 more by him, hoping that this next one might live up to my expectations, but nothing was ever quite so successful. Alas.

A couple of really great ideas for quirky things to see around Portland... and a lot of repetitive and ungraceful prose. Is this how he usually writes? Urgh.

A friend had purchased the first 3 books in the U.K. She traveled frequently and I picked up her mail, watered the plants, etc. On one trip I asked if I could read the 3 Harry Potter books. I was starting to hear a lot about them. I gobbled them all up! By the time I finished book 3 I was a serious Harry Potter fan! I could not wait for more.
i really enjoyed this book. i already knew some of the background of ayaan hirsi ali and her association to theo van gogh (which made me interested in the book - i love art!). interesting story of ayaan's childhood and her awareness of her religion and what it meant to the world.

When it comes to biographies they can often be found boring and monotonous for students to read. However the Sterling Biographies has found a solution to this. In their newest series of biographies they have created an easy read that is enjoyable for both students and adults. This novel on Franklin Delano Roosevelt read more like a graphic novel than a boring biography. The writing combined with the pictures takes the reader back in time. It gives a good glimpse into what he faced as a husband, son, father and President. I found it refreshing that this novel also points out some of the flaws, making him as a person feel more connectable to the reader. I think it is easy to forget he was a real down to earth human being. This is a series of books that I plan on introducing into my own classroom. It is a great tool to use for reluctant readers because of the short chapters and easy flow of writing
