I picked up this book because I love anything to do with Ancient Greece and I've read other things by Adèle Geras and liked them. This book didn't disappoint; the only thing I didn't like was when the gods came down and spoke with the mortals. It could have been handled better - the way the townsfolk suddenly suffered amnesia after the gods had left got a bit irritating after a while.

One of my favorites, read twice in English and Latin for a college course. My college years were heavy with Classics courses so I read a lot of the major works. This is by far the best, I think, and able to keep a modern reader engaged in the story.

The literary equivalent of Hoop Dreams and a perfect look at the failure of American urban social policy and how sports provides both as an escape and a detriment to people trapped in dire poverty and racism. I think this is the best book about sports ever written. It's bittersweet, dramatic and serves as one of the finest pieces of journalism written in the 1990's.

One of the free ebooks given away by eHarlequin for their 60th birthday. Romance, vampires, witches, the devil, a few werewolves, and a love spell--what more is there to say? The characterisation of the devil was particularly entertaining. I'll admit I skimmed through large parts of this book, or otherwise I may not have made it to the end. The plot idea, I think, has potential, but the author's treatment of the plot falls quite below that potential.

I found this book on the shelf today and decided to see what it was about. It was a quick read, only 48 pages, but definitely should be a teen book, just because of the content. Ellie is a 15 year old that gets pregnant and decides to keep the baby. It simply points out the struggles and difficulties of having a baby as a teen without creating a long drama. This is a good book for middle school girls to read.
