No idea when I read it but I liked it. It was right up my fantasy & CS Lewis lovin' alley back then. I'll give it 5 stars for old times' sake.
My mom read this book to my sister, brother, and me when we were younger. It's a truly wonderful story, albeit sad in some parts. This book helped shape my love of animals, especially dogs, and how much I care for them.

This is a great book and good read. There is poetry, philosophy, insight and it is absolutely a book that can be read over and over and you will learn something new each time. Parts of it if read out loud will sound like something out of a William Blake, or Shakespeare passage.

David Sedaris cracks me up! This was a great book and I found myself laughing out loud quite a bit!=-)
I hated this book. The characters ticked my off, especially Bella Swan who always has the urge to back talk people. I believe that you shouldn't do this to your friends unless they are deserving of it. Also, this is a contradicting story with plot holes that are never filled in later. I won't dare suggest this to others.

September 2, 2011 review. The Hobbit is an excellent story with a simple but extraordinary exposition. His descriptions, on the other hand, are wonderful and vivid. The sequence of events progresses well and doesn’t dawdle on unimportant parts. The characters also grow over time and struggle in realistic ways, something I rarely see in fantasy settings nowadays. Middle Earth is a remarkable setting full of strange and unusual creatures. It comes as no surprise that Tolkien’s work is literally one of the foundations of High Fantasy literature. Sometimes I feel Tolkien’s storytelling falls flat, particularly in action sequences. He unfortunately summarizes a lot of the battles, putting them into words such as “it was terrible” without really delving into deeper details. This story isn’t too challenging to read, so I can honestly see children enjoying it too. It’s a little slow but intensifies near the end. Bilbo is a fine protagonist that plenty of readers can relate and grow with as the journey progresses. Even if a seasoned adventurer could still enjoy Bilbo’s journey with the dwarves I’d say. Enjoyment: 4/5 Story Itself: 5/5
I like this book because I share with the main character that feeling when going on business trips. He travels far more times than me, but I also get that feeling of not belonging. Yes, it passes, but after all you're just another soul in a place you may not know, surrounded by people you definitely don't know... most of the times. Have yet to watch the movie, anyone knows if it's good?
