I hadn't read this book since I was ten, but I found in on my bookshelf the other day and read it in a couple of hours. I still liked it. Oh my god I am terrible at reviews. My recommendation was too long, but it was this: "people who like post-apocalyptic books or books where bands of [pre]adolescents band together to survive." I am both of those people. By the way.

Yes, eventually your habit of having sex with older men and accepting "gifts" of money from them will come back to bite you.

This REVIEW contains Many SPOILERS!!!!!!!! After originally reading this book following the Devil in Winter, I was originally a little disappointed. I wanted at the time a book of great humor and this book didn’t deliver. Also, I was unable to relate to the heroine Sara Fielding. Sara Fielding is a writer who researches gamblers, whores, and criminals. Her research leads to the meeting of Derek Craven, who was being attacked at the time. She shoots his attackers and rescues him. Sara helps Derek by returning him to his gambling club and asks if she could remain to do her research. At first Derek says no, but eventually develops feelings for Sara and allows her to stay. I’ve had many visions of Sara. Her character is read to be very beautiful and voluptuous. When I am viewing her as being quirky I see Katherine Heigl. And then at different times I imagine Rachel McAdams because I cannot imagine Katherine as a writer. Katherine Heigl Rachel McAdams Derek Craven had grown up in the streets of London. He was born in the gutter and nursed by a group of prostitutes. We are first introduced to him in “Then Came You” by Lawless Lily. It is often recognized by the second characters that Derek was secretly infatuated with Lily. It is said that he feared himself falling in love with her and so he virtually gave her away. At the time, Derek was carrying on many affairs with blue blooded socialites and Lily accused him of only regarding women as trophies; however, “Derek still hungered for a nameless something that had nothing to do with fine linen and luxury”. (Could it be love?) There are many descriptive adjectives used for the character Derek: arrogant, self-mocking, sociable, and yet intensely private. It is also hinted that Derek is well-endowed; however, Derek’s most striking feature his passionate green eyes. _____________________________________________________________ My absolute favorite point of the book is that of the Masquerade. I adore Sara at this point and love how Lily and Worthy’s help transform her into Mathilda: “Whether the morrow brought happiness or regret, she knew that for at least a few hours she would have lived as boldly as she had always dreamed of doing.” _______________________________________________________________ I also love the banter between Lily and her husband Alex: “Thank you for defending me, Alex. I actually thought he might try to box my ears!” “You know I’ll never let anyone raise a hand to you, Lily. I reserve that privilege for myself.” __________________________________________________________________ Actually some of the best lines were delivered by Lily and Alex, who I happen to believe are some of Lisa’s best characters. “If Sara find something in you that’ worthy of her affection… for God’s sake, don’t argue with a gift that fate has handed you.” (Alex to Derek) Alex ____________________________________________________________________ Lily had an amazingly cavalier attitude toward men. “They’re easy to manage and entirely predictable. If something is easily given, they’re indifferent to it. If something is withheld, they want it desperately.” (Lily to Sara) Lawless Lily __________________________________________________________________ Derek and Sara loving quotes are probably the most beautiful I have ever read. Lisa Kleypas delievered. And the Sex! Oh my! Naughty, Naughty! If you don't remember the epilogue sex, I suggest you read it again :) "Sometimes, I want to punish you a little, Sara." "Why?" "For making me want you until I ache with it! Sometimes, I'm so deep inside you I can feel your womb... and I'm still not close enough. I want to share every breath.... every beat of your heart"
Chicken Cheeks, is a hilarious vocabulary enriching book! This silly animal stacking story is an encyclopedia of animal posteriors. Readers will learn through rhyme and illustrations 16 ways to refer to "buttocks". The topic alone is sure to enthrall children and children just might start using the term gluteus maximus because it rhymes with duck-billed platypus. Product Description As a TV drama, this book brings together Josette Simon and Brenda Fricker as two detectives who set up their own agency. The author won a BAFTA Award for her TV drama "Prime Suspect".
Mr. Card wrote in the preface that he wrote Ender's Game, specifically so that he could right this book. And I am very glad he did. One of the BEST books I have ever read. I could not put it down. This series has lived up to the hype that kept me from reading it all these years. It 'twisted' my brain and made me think, and rethink past conceptions. Love Love Love it! ... Appearances can be deceiving... ROOTER! I keep picturing the pequinos' in my head like a cross between a Furby and Piglet. lol (or a Nubbin!)

Fascinating story. The brutality is hard to read, but this man's life is incredible.
