I really want to give this 3.5 stars. It's not often you come across a book that combines humor, religion and marine biology with hints of The Little Mermaid thrown in for good measure. I preferred the beginning of the book to the end section, mainly because I get squeamish reading about whale blubber and such, but I did enjoy the story and find it strangely satisfying, in a weird sort of way.

I really MUST reread this series, as for 12 years I've been telling people that it is "the best fantasy trilogy after Tolkien," and one should never, even make a book recomendation based on a book one only read in highschool. I have hope that it will still be good, as I read it at a time when I did have taste (post Eddings, Shanara, etc.) and could appreciate how Williams built characters, setting, and both played with and worked outside of traditional trappings of fantasy. I'm putting it on my "to-read" shelf, so perhaps I'll get to it over the summer and can comment on whether or not it holds up a decade later.

Not quite a 3. This one feels like a retelling of a story this author has already told, but with a different premise. While there were parts that I enjoyed about this book and found it touching in sections, I was a little disappointed overall. I will say though, I did like the humor in this one as I found myself laughing out loud about the sarcasm, which was priceless.

This was a tough read. Every page introduced more characters. Most would be irrelevant to the story. The grammatical errors and misspellings throughout the book had me wondering if it was even proofread or edited. Just a couple examples, "solumn" and "Leininkugel."

This Book The runaways is a very interesting book Brian K. vaughan compared real life to a graphic novel. It made you wonder what really does happen when all grownup are having get togethers. The Runaways also Deals with teen issues of not learning what your capeable of doing and what you would grow up to be. i recommend this book to all graphic novel lovers and also any teen who is having self issues.

The book is set about a hundred years ago in Japan. It's moving without being overly sentimental. It tells a story revolving around a moneylender who forces a young woman into being his mistress, but don't worry, it's not as depressing as it sounds. Great characters. It's a short, fast read, and I highly recommend it.
