Another Picoult...I seem to get sucked into these! This one was ok, but I don't think one of her best, yet I keep reading them. :) They are good quick reads and all on very different topics so that is interesting.

great book with great drawings--a for-real architect's book for architects. a collection of residential projects with Olsen Sundberg. if you like that northwest aesthetic of material honesty of cast-in-place concrete, cor-ten steel, oversized industrial apperatures, folded steel plates, counter-balance, etc. this is the book for you. all the usual suspects pitch in essays: steven holl, rick joy, billie tsien...for once, eye candy with substance.

Maybe I'm biased because this book is about three sisters and I am one of three sisters, but I loved every word of this. It's a very talented writer that can make her characters do some terrible things and yet still remain likable. Beautifully written.

"Gawd" that 'princess' was spoiled!
Read this book for a class at church. After getting past the initial cheesiness (Ortberg references the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, and repeats phrases like "It's morphin' time!"), I found this book to be a refreshing and insightful take on the practice of spiritual disciplines. Ortberg incorporates many personal experiences and stories to illustrate his points, and it was pretty humorous to see myself in those examples. One of the highlights for me is how he explains the purpose of spiritual disciplines; they aren't a 'spiritual barometer' where consistent practice of disciplines indicates how you're doing in your walk with God, rather they should be helping you to better love God and other people. So in certain circumstances, sometimes the best practice you can do for your spiritual walk is to get more sleep! :)
