This book could not have come at a better time for me. I have been struggling with remembering my purpose, goals, vision, etc. This is a very easy read with simple concepts that we all need to be reminded of! This book with help you channel positive energy and make it contagious!

I should know this when I read series books, but I have hope that they will all stay as good as the first or get better. However, this is not the case with FOC. Rachel Morgan just cannot catch a break in this book...and I kinda like more of a happy moment here or there and this did not have any. I actually missed Trent in this book too...weird I know!!

Ariel Gore, founder of HipMama zine, comes up with a what next? what now?wowie of a book. Ever wanted to run away and join a circus? Here's one with miracles, stigmata, freaks, motherhood, trust, betrayal, fame, panic and love. Oh yeah, and a great list of certain saints to pray to (in a pagan, practical kind of way) for your particular needs. What more do we need?

The plot was less important than the insights into the phenomenon of memory itself. Some of the ideas are so familiar you feel validated that someone else is thinking the same way that you have. I really enjoyed this one because of the thoughts behind the plot.

I'm 1/4 of my way through it. Man, I love Weinberger. Jaz was right. If Eliot were writing in France, he'd be a national treasure.
This book had more pace then some of the other books. The stereotypes of some of the characters are really getting to me though, especially regarding gay men. Do the Authors know any gay people or do they use TV as a guide?

This is a great piece of Canadian fiction. It is one of the few works of Can Lit with a queer woman at the centre of the plot. Whittall is definitely a good story teller. Her writing is tight yet descriptive. I enjoyed the historical fiction aspect of the book. At the same time that the main character is going through her own romantic and growing troubles, the 1995 Referendum in Quebec is going on. The book takes place in Montreal so the lives of these characters are saturated in those events. The plot does a nice 360 at the end which makes any loose ends tie up nicely. Readers who enjoy a good ending won't be disappointed. Overall, a great piece of queer fiction.
One word: Plotinus!!! (Yeah baby. Thrills for an optimistic ninth-grader living in a dark time.)
An honest and compassionate look at depression, love and family.
I do love a good teen fantasy, as a break from some of the harder going topics. This one gives a taste into the seedy underworld, as it would be if "Curse workers" had been driven underground. I probably wouldn't have picked up this book if it had the cover of other editions I have seen, but the cat sucked me in. I have a skinny white cat with one blue and one green eye. I found that I guessed a fair bit of the plot early on, but so did the character. It didn't put me off. Once the action started it kept it's pace and I read it in one sitting. The book was complete enough to stand alone, and left me with a smile. Perhaps a bit too complete, as I don't have any idea what the next book will be about, or too much sense of unfinished business. The next in the series is waiting for me at the library nonetheless.
