I really enjoyed de Rossi's frankness in this book. I loved seeing her as a human being rather than a celebrity. It was a very brave book as she truely exposes her weaknesses. I have much respect for her and her honesty about her life.
I found it hard to get into initially, but I really connected to the dual desire of a researcher to make a discovery famous and possess it--not let anyone else have it. That was much more compelling than the romance.

Fun read, about a female author who invites a group of people to a mansion for a month, to write a book about it. I expected clichés abound but was pleasantly surprised by its twists and turns. Nice how the book is set in black and blue ink. Black for the typed manuscript, blue for the scribbled notes by her editor. (3.5)
i know there's more than not who love this book and it somehow affected their lives... i read it as a teenager and all i remember is t hat this kid whines alot. i rated it 3 because of it's reputation/reviews, otherwise i would of given it a 2. i will read again and maybe it will be different the next time around... i will give it another chance!

GREAT!!!! this book shows the oposite of defeet. I couldn't put it down! This Book is very well written for miidle school age level. ( I am that age leval) This book does have a lot of unanswerd questions but if you read the other two books it all makes sence! To people who don't like this book, David says in his other books that he wrote the book to take out his anger so he won't have to take it out on people like other abused people do. I was very impressed with this book and I think other people should be too.

This book was awful. Very violent, and so much sex. Other reviewers said it was very historical-which it was not. I didn't feel I learned a single thing. The romance was so cliche I couldn't stand the characters. Stay away. I am sad that this book has such a huge following and I can't understand why.

** spoiler alert ** boring...
I REALLY wanted to like this one, as the premise of the book sounded so incredibly interesting. A housekeeper and her son come to care for a brilliant professor of mathematics, who due to an injury, has a memory that lasts only 80-minutes. I thought that their day-to-day struggles and routine would be fascinating, and I really wanted to find out how they coped with this handicap. Unfortunately (for me), one of the biggest ways they cope is through math. A LOT OF MATH. I found myself skimming huge sections containing equations and formulas...some of which drew interesting parallels to the story itself. I do think this story has the potential to be quite charming, but it just wasn't for me. Ucky math.

I love how Richard Peck gives a different view of historic events than the ones we always see. This book told great stories of the Civil War time.
