This book is good for people who are fans of the adventures of the famous Robin Hood. I especially love the solidarity of robin hood to give everything they could to the poor

Awesome book. Couldn't put it down last night, and just finished it in 2 days.

Absolutely top-notch. Clement's prose is straightforward without being at all bland. He has a talent for effortlessly creating characters so real, you can feel their pulses, and that goes double for how he captures the essence of the small, dying Nebraska town where the tale is set. And the story itself starts simple but will ultimately surprise the reader -- this reader, anyway -- with its depth and complexity. All in all, a deeply satisfying book.

The Penderwicks is a delightful book. The four Penderwick sisters - Rosalind, Skye, Jane and Batty - go on summer vacation with their father and the family dog to Arundel, a large estate in the New England countryside. The owner of the estate is a scary older woman who is obsessed with keeping her garden pristine so as to win first prize in the garden show, but her son Jeffrey is a fine friend for the four sisters, and together they get into all sorts of adventures, and a little bit of trouble. The Penderwicks feels like something that was written when my mom was a kid, but in a good way. It’s not a stale retelling, but a modern feel-good tale, as though the classic summer-vacation story was updated while keeping all of the good stuff that made it special in the first place. It’s a great book, and one that I will definitely recommend to anyone with kids.

I liked this a lot more than I expected. Think The Road meets 28 Days Later meets a less funny Zombieland and you pretty much got this book. I'm always up for an ass kicking female lead and Remy delivered. Harlow was beyond annoying and i thought the lion angle was a bit much but it somehow wasn't so overboard that it was distracting. I felt like it lost a bit of steam/focus towards the end and got predictable. You could see the end coming from a mile away and I thought it was waaaay too easy for her to break into this supposedly guarded facility not once but twice. I also wish Lazlo had been a little tougher. As a love interest, it was hard to see what such a strong female lead found attractive in someone who basically just followed her around like a puppy dog. I kept expecting her to be more interested in Blue, but still somehow it worked. Regardless of those criticisms, I liked it and I'll definitely read the next in the series whenever it comes out.

A girl plants some seeds and a community garden forms. A good book to examine how one persons actions can affect an entire community.

Gardner does his best to lay down some rules of fiction writing, which is a task that begs people to argue with you. But as books of this type go, this is one of the best. Think of his advice as just that--advice, not hard and fast rules that must be obeyed. His style may seem a bit didactic, but the examples where he picks apart passages are illuminating for beginning writers and helpful reminders for experienced ones.

Ending left me feeling unresolved, but otherwise a great book. My highest recommendation.

Gemma Jansen needs a manager to run her ranch and only one candidate comes to mind, Cash Big Crow. Cash made his intentions clear from the beginning to Gemma, but she balked, now she needs him and is willing to swallow her hesitation in order to get him to the ranch. Cash is more than willing to work the ranch, but he has conditions and one of them is Gemma in his bed everynight. With Cash comes his daughter Macie who is forming a close relationship with Carter McKay. Carter is not the normal mold for a McKay but the reputation could hurt him when it comes to Macie, but he plans to break through the barriers and win her heart. This is two stories rolled into one. Of course with all the Rough Riders series it is another fantastic read. I liked the may/december romance.

This might be my favorite book of all time. It's as fascinating as a history book or biography can get while also being a terrific read. From the first page, you are immersed in understanding how an illiterate steppe warrior became ruler of an empire larger than Africa. Perhaps most enticing to me are the ways in which the survival strategies of steppe nomads influenced the ethics of rulership and the cunning development of military tactics. I recommend this book to anyone with a sense of curiosity, whether you typically enjoy reading history or not.
