Twisted love stories!

Fell just a little flat for the main characters to me. However I loved that we got to go back to see Jane & V. I often wonder about the happily ever afters weather they really come true.

This was the first book I had ever come across that I could read and re-read and still enjoy as much as I had the first time around. My favorite read. I have a lot of books that I would put on a list somewhere, but I think it's safe to say that this will consistently be in the #1 spot.

Unwind is placed in the future. It is about a group of kids, named Conner Risa and Lev, that try to escape the law, in fear of being unwound, or "harvested." The government has decided that in order to cut orphanage costs, they will cut up minors and sell their body parts to needed surgeries, and transplants. Once Conner, Risa, and Lev have escaped, their next challenge, is to stay hidden. After hiding in numerous places, Lev ditches the Conner and Risa, after ratting them out. Conner and Risa then find a shelter with adults, that specialize in hiding runaway unwinds. The two then bounce from shelter to shelter, with hundreds of other unwinds until finally, stuffed in crate, and flown to a deserted area in an unknown place. Once there, they meet the leader of the whole program, an Admiral. Once there for about a year, their cover gets blown, and they all get sent to harvest camps. Conner and Risa get sent to the same one. But the problems are not over yet.... for an unknown reason, the "chop shop" is blown up, and all the children escape. Conner and Risa are then sent to the hospital and sent out into the world with whole new identities..
This book was amazing. The creativity the author showed in creating a world that had risen up from the ruins of North America was on the level of J.K. Rowling. However, this world seemed more plausible to me, because something akin to this could easily happen, after human society does finally cease to exist as we know it. The book also addressed some deep political issues, and combated them, I think. This book was a type of sci-fi that I found to be very realistic and plausible, which made this story much better than if it had been in a completely fantastic world. Overall, I give this book five stars out of five. I look forward to seeing what happens in Catching Fire and Mocking Jay.

Quite entertaining, in the same line as the rest of the Discworld books. It's not as chaotic plot-wise as some of the first books, but it doesn't have the plot robustness Good Omens had (I blame Neil Gaiman for that). Baggage still is the most adorable non-human character I have read. And it does not talk.

I probably shouldn't rate and review a book I didn't make it all the way through, but I found myself getting more and more angry the further I went into this book. I liked the first part, where the authors discussed choice architecture generally. However, they then went on to discuss many choice architecture issues in a manner I found confusing. Two examples seem appropriate to consider. The authors seem to find fault with the way student loans are done. They seem to criticize schools for selecting a few loan providers to recommend, because there is bribery to become one of the ones selected. The authors then criticize another plan (I think Medicare) for not recommending certain of the available plans, because people have too much choice. So it seems to me that any system may suffer from one of these problems. Or someone who is deemed an "outside expert" could advise, but I'm not sure how to prevent the bribery problem there either. The authors seem to indicate that it's best if companies force people to participate in some form of retirement plan "for their own good" but the authors do not seem to recognize that enrolling people and automatically matching their contribution also imposes costs on the employer. I don't know why people don't enroll in programs that give them free money, but at what point do we make people the masters of their own destiny. I think they and I differ in our views on this. It seems that other people don't have this difficulty with this book, so maybe it's just me. Your mileage may vary.
great book. couldn't put it down. love the writing style, especially since I usually stay away from non-fiction. im encouraged to read more of alex haley's books like roots
