Talk about a fucked up book. I need to start loaning it out to other people so they can experience it. The form of the book followed what was happening to the characters in the book. As can be seen in this [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ho...] picture it sometimes gets a little crazy. It took me awhile to read, but definitely was an experience. I often read it late at night and it would creep me out.

started off amazing but didnt end well. kind of got lost i think writer ran out of ideas. concept was good though
YIkes! So much living up to other peoples expectations!
The story arc just isn't enough to interest me. There are brief moments, descriptions, that are interesting, but I really dislike the romance. The power structure is sexist, and though I know some women melt for a man who dominates, I find it a turn-off. Big time. Possessive can be acceptable sometimes, tempered with rationality, but ownership - not hot.

When I got to choose my own bedtime story, this is the book I picked. Afterwards, my babysitter, Evelyn and I, would practice drawing, just like the character in this book. The colors in these illustrations still make me happy.
Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles is, at first glance, a book of loosely connected short stories that tell of mankind's first visits and colonization of Mars. Reading through 90% of the book, this is what I thought I was reading. In typical Bradbury fashion, it was beautifully-written, funny, heartbreaking, and interesting. He deals with his usual issues like prejudice, the role of technology, and the outrageous actions that humans make. But it doesn't end there. Bradbury is unusual in that he is a science fiction writer from the first half of the twentieth century who doesn't think that science will save us all. This is a cautionary tale. But it's also a heartrending story about the pain that humans inflict on themselves for no reason. Reading the book, and hearing Bradbury's voice reminded me what I love about him. He's concerned with the here and now. He uses science fiction to tell us who we are, not to tell us what we can be. There's a place for both, but Bradbury is perfect at what he does, and I wouldn't want him to do things any other way. It's a short read, but The Martian Chronicles packs quite a punch and will stay with you after. This is the first time I've read it all the way through, but I read the first half once, years ago and every story has stuck with me since. Like the Martians and their culture, Bradbury's works have a unique longevity all their own.

ok, so it's pretentious in that uniquely Gaiman way. but I loved it, and found moments of true clarity in it. one of my favourite graphic novels.

3.8 - Enjoyed reading this wild tale of a young man from Northern England getting sucked into Soho - very British take on the "young man leaves home to find real life"...

Loved the beginning and parts leading up to the kidnapping of the travelers, however the end left a lot to be desired. Overall an interesting read.
