I have a persian translation by Najaf Daryabandi. It's a great book, which influences your heart and soul by simple poetical words. It's a collection of advices from "the messanger" about different aspects of life.

The game show format was a clever device to tie together the short stories which make up this book. I have to give much greater credit to the screenwriter who adapted these stories into the delightful movie, one of those rare cases when I far preferred the movie to the book upon which it was based. Each chapter ended in the exact same awkward dialog, and the coincidences which are critical to tieing together the short stories are entirely too unbelievable. I plan to watch the movie again, now that I know what a challenge the screenwriter faced!
I finally got around to reading All the Living. The examination of the difference between our feelings and perceptions and reality, and whatever that could really be, is shockingly engaging. I identified strongly with Aloma, and her inner dialogue and growth really make this book.
"The Tourist" is not your everyday spy novel. Olen Steinhauer has put together a book that quite possibly in indicative of what a spy's life might really be like. You will not find the life saving gadgets (ala James Bond), the fast paced dialogue, gun fights, and impossible situations that are found in many of the spy novels of today. This novel is very reminiscent of books that have been authored by Graham Greene and John le Carre. It could very well be perceived as a "thinking man's" novel. A "tourist" was a CIA opeative who had no identity or home. Milo Weaver was one of the best but has left many enemies in his wake. It is entirely possible that some of his enemies could be part of hiw own organization. The story opens with Milo holding down a middle-level management position in the CIA's New York office. He is now married and has a daughter. Milo finds that he must go back underground when a long time enemy of his is arrested and sets off an investigation int his past cases. He now finds himself in the position of trying to balance his present life with his past. He finds early on that he has become somewhat rusty and must call on all of his reserves in getting out of several dangerous situations. He also finds out that with every new finding he gets deeper and deeper into his past. His situation continues to get more complicated when he suspects that he not only has to look at his enemies, but must also consider what he thought were his friends. This is a very good spy novel that will keep you guessing and thinking.

I just finished this novel for my book group. The novel is set mostly during and after WWI. It is broken up between 4 different characters whose lives intersect. Personally the most compelling character is Gilbert, the Jamaican man who joins the RAF and eventually leaves Jamaica for a life in England. The only problem I have is that the book sums up a little too nicely in the end. It is a good companion to Night Watch by Sarah Waters.

Anyone that knows me know that I hate pests, maybe more than anything.
I enjoyed the learning more about the culture of India. Culture clash and the generation gap were main themes. The story revolved around the name given to the son but I felt that limited the character development. I didn't find myself sympathetic towards him, or really to any of the characters. I am going to see the movie today.
