I am super surprised that Dee Dee didn't like this book cuz I really did!!! It was really well-written and sorta cool spooky without being over-the-top creepy.

Author encourages the reader to think creatively to find solutions for pursuing dreams. I especially found the chapter about finding time when you are busy to be inspiring.
One of those books I had been meaning to read for ages. Finally got around to it, and it was rather enjoyable. At the same time, I had a weird feeling that I really might have enjoyed it more had I heard it read aloud, or had I read it when I was twelve or so. Had I read it then, it would probably be one of my favourite books, to be revisited often. Now, it's more something I've checked off a list. Good book, but something I probably won't come back to.

An extremely well-written memoir using ordinary language about a woman who has led a very extraordinary life. The tone is really matter of fact. More of "I killing the dragon was hard, I thought I would die," than "HOLY CRAP, OMG, I KILLED A FREAKIN' DRAGON! I'M SO AWESOME!"

~Audiobook~ Author had an interesting style that was hard to follow at points but the story is beyond compelling. Along his unexpected journey the descriptions of his feelings, sights, sounds, and any other human capacity along his were unbelievable..but believable at the same time.
John Jakes volume two of his Civil War series is completely satisfying in so many ways ... from the trusted accuracy of historical fact to the stupefying depiction of wasted human life to the almost unbelievable intricacies of familial feuds all set within the most grievous calamity of our nation's story that sorrowfully and almost unforgiveably allowed human bondage ... How much more can a writer give us? This gifted writer skirts the edges of genius.

Well, I read it, and I don't really know what to make of it. I feel like he is saying some really important things that are just over my head. Maybe I will have to read it again some other time when I can really sit and read through it and figure out what exactly he is saying.

man's youngest daughter is abducted, taken for dead. he loses faith in god after this until he receives a strange note summoning him to "the shack" in the woods where his daughter's blood-stained clothing was found. it's god (in the form of three persons, one an aunt-jemima-type) who explains it all and wins the man back into the fold. my mom gave me this book and as i was in-between books, i read it. but as a nonbeliever, it really wasn't my thing.
