I loved the Berlin Noir trilogy. This fourth book in the series was a bit of let down. The plot was rather obvious and Kerr makes his P.I., Bernie Gunther, look naive both as a P.I. in general but in post-war Germany in particular. There were questions begging to be asked by Bernie of his new client that weren't. So unlike cynical Bernie. However, I look to Kerr for his amazing ability to make you feel as if you were there in post-war Germany, a period which fascinates me from all points of view the world over, and he delivers. I miss the hard-boiled dialogue and tone of March Violets, Pale Criminial and German Requiem.

King Lear with dick & fart jokes. As always, I really enjoyed Moore's main character. As it went on it went a bit farther to the tragedy side of the story, which I suppose was necessary, but I think he may have gotten a bit caught up in the fact that he was adapting Shakespeare. If you like Moore, it's worth reading. If you're not sure, start with Lamb or Bloodsucking Fiends. Update: I read this over a year ago and I still use the word "fuckstockings"

I enjoyed this book. It was a little slow to start, but enough to keep me interested...and a cool ending.

The main thing I learned (and have implemented with my 4 month old) was the "feed-wake-sleep" order of events in a flexible cycle/schedule throughout the day. I had not previously thought this order would be possible, but my infant seems to really like this new system after all. I am curious whether my infant would have liked it if I had tried it earlier. (Note: as with any parenting book, read this book to get ideas, but read it with your filter on and make your own decisions.)
AMAZING!! cant wait for the next book
Tessa Donovan's stress level hit a new high when she receives a call from her brother telling her their brewery has been broken into. She doesn't realize things are going to soar to new heights until she finds out her brother had a one night stand with the one person their older brother told him to stay away from. As Tessa's always done, she puts herself smack dab in the middle of the issue trying to diffuse it and make everyone happy. This also happens to be the night that she meets drop dead gorgeous police detective (and college buddy of her brother's) Luke Asher. Luke see's Tessa, thinks she's cute in a girl next door kind of way, but knows she's not his type. After his disastrous marriage he wasn't looking for the type of relationship he knew a woman like Tessa would want. Instead, he was going to delve into this case and find the person or persons responsible, since this break-in matched a few others they'd had around time. He would focus on work and what was going on with his partner, who despite the rumors, was his best friend. Not the sexy as hell little sister of his college buddy and current case victim. I enjoyed this book and the cast of characters. Tessa had learned to hide bits and pieces of herself for the sake of her older brothers. Feeling it would be better to shield them from who she really was than to cause them any worry or upset. She always walked this delicate tightrope hoping to ensure that her family stayed as it was after the death of their parents. Luke had to learn that in order to truly be happy, he needed to deal with things that happened in his past and why they happened. He'd avoided dealing with those issues for so long, they made him shut himself off to the possibility of ever having a decent relationship. Tessa and Luke fought real hard to hold on to their beliefs that they were right, but it took walking away from each other to finally get it right. Great first installment. Can't wait for Jaime's story, in Bad Boys Do. 4 Cocktails

The characters were strong, the story was poignant, yet this book was such a bore and impossible to get through! The author chose a little too much of a journalistic style (which he called 'minimalist')to convey a very emotional journey. Should have been much better!

Rating: 2.5 / 5 stars Quirky book. Not quite sure I liked it all that much, but I didn't necessarily like it. I think the more I read, the less I liked it. Series Note: I believe this book has character connections to previous books the author has written, but if you haven't read them, it doesn't make a difference in how this book comes out. Summary: Norah MacArthur grew up with a father who was a con-artist and then later an inept bank robber - which ended up sending him to prison for 15 years. But no one has ever been able to figure out where he stashed the massive haul from the bank robbery. And now that he is about to be released form prison, treasure hunters - some bad, some good- are coming out of the wood work in hopes of finding the goods. Which puts Norah in everyone's sights. The FBI believes Norah may be in danger - and they also hope she may help them retrieve the missing loot - so they send FBI agent Trip Jones to protect her and keep track of her. The two set off sparks from the start. But neither can really trust the others intentions. The situation has them glued together, though, and they'll have to learn to deal with each other. Review: I can't quite think of much to say about this book. It didn't really evoke much, feelings wise, from me. It wasn't bad, it's wasn't that great. It was a pretty average read from every angle. On the storyline front, the plot was semi-interesting...at times. It never quite sucked me and had me wanting to know what would happen next. It lacks that degree of intensity that I prefer in my romantic suspense stories. The book is more of a contemporary romance with suspense plot in it instead of a straight up romantic suspense. The story is just a lot of running around searching for treasure with some bad guy chases thrown in. There was something about the way the author wrote the suspense plot that made it seem almost comical and very blase. It made it hard to take what was going on seriously. The romance was pretty much the same way. I liked the way it started off. Trip and Norah had a very snarky quirky start with a lot of banter that I liked. But somewhere along the way, I kinda lost interest in these two. I think it's because of all the trust issues going on. Everything is a con in this book. Someone's being conned but they know they are being connned so they are conning the person back but that person knows that so they are conning them even more. It started to make your head hurt trying to understand everyone's true intentions. And it made the connection between Norah and Trip seem rather superficial. I just wanted something a bit more serious and deeper between these two. Overall, it wasn't a bad book. There was just something about it that didn't really work for me. If I remember right, I think I felt the same way about the other book from this author that I've read. Not sure. Would I recommend reading it? I think those of you who like lighter romantic suspense would probably enjoy it more than I did, but for those of you who are hardcore romantic suspense fans, you'll probably feel like I did...that this book just comes up short.
