A great, whimsical tale introducing us to Harry Potter and his friends, including the wonderful magical school of Hogwarts.

I learned about the geography and politics of the region and about the conflicts surrounding the whole Kashmir issue - Indian held Kasmir and the northern portion controlled by Pakistan. The detailed descriptions of the terrain and landscape of the area - Hindu Kush, Karakorams, the Vale of Kashmir, are very interesting. What kept me moving through this very detailed book, however, were the two love stories and the inevitability of their being intertwined in the plot of the novel. I have written another review of Fidali's Way at www.bookbirddog.blogsppot.com

I started reading this novel once before, but gave up because the language was so complicated. I never really got into it that time. This time I persevered, and slowly but surely I got back into Jane Austen's language and started to enjoy the novel. It's not nearly as good as Pride & Prejudice or Sense & Sensibility, but it's still an enjoyable novel.

Unbelievable story of the strength & resilience of children. I am glad I read Half Broke Horses first. It helped to understand the mom & daughter's personalities & philosophies if you know the story of the grandmother. Favorite qoute, 'Life is a drama full of tragedy and comedy....you should learn to enjoy the comic episodes a little more.'

This is the one where the dad (who is VERY HEAVILY implied to be abusing the mom via forced impregnation) kicks the bucket. That was a very satisfying plot point.

All in, another great Jodi Picoult book. I loved learning about Aspergers but this one was a little too predictable.

while this was my first read by McCarthy, I don't think it hurt to have done the 2nd book in the trilogy first. I don't usually do that. I found this to be a very compelling book and that I was surprised to find that the back and forth between English and Spanish didn't put me off.
