I like the way Cordelia Fine writes, but I'm finding the book a bit disjointed. But perhaps it's just because my brain is being over-emotional, or maybe my subconscious is telling me to put the book down and go to sleep. I'll have to finish it to find out what's really going on between my ears, though! ...Just finished. I enjoyed the case studies, but I wished there were more...umph. I don't know. I'd read it again, if there weren't eleventy-bajillion other books to read, because I feel like I missed something. Ah well. If you're interested in social psychology but need something a little on the light side, this book is perfect for you. Not so fluffy as to be useless, but not so scholarly as to put you to sleep.

Excellent and easily understandable portrayal of the big banks' role in the subprime mortgage crisis.

One of the extraordinary book, that I've never ever read before, which reveals the bravery revolutionary in order to bring together black and white people.... It is emotionally ended with the unfair death of the main character (Steve Biko), a black community leader. However, Biko's best friend, Donald Woods to hardly and bloodily overcomes the South African government, which never endlessly malice the black people. Finally, Woods successfully brought Biko's dream turn to the truth, as to bring peace and freedom to all black people in South Africa.
A new (read: fresh) look at spirituality. This was a slow read, but the details about a pastor's life mixed in with the description of her search for spritual connection was very intriguing

Meh. Some of it is vaguely obnoxious. Maybe the kids at Naropa are into it, but is was just a'right for me, dawg.
I think this book was assigned over the summer between sophomore and junior years. I read large parts in the hammock. It recalls warm breezes, maple leaves, and populist discontent. My favorite notion from the book is that a collection of people may make decisions that most of these people find abhorrent. This phenomenon is a natural consequence of the way people behave in groups. As I recall, this idea is applied to banks foreclosing on farms.
Half brothers Bruno and Michel have nothing in common except a mother. Michel is a molecular biologist and seems totally inept at forming human relationships and Bruno is sex obsessed. This book examines the state of modern society and in particular its breakdown and pointlessness. It paints a bleak and dystopian picture of the modern human male - it's written by a man about men. It is full political and social (French) history, graphic sex (verging on pornography at times) science and philosophy. It's not an easy read, one may say the subject matter is 'deep', and it is quite depressing too. You may think the author is a pretentious tosser - he probably is - but it is worth sticking with. It is thought-provoking, controversial and utterly gripping.

I really liked this book! In the beginning it was slow reading but things really take off soon enough. Once you understand the history involved it becomes easily believeable - something I never expected out of a book involving killer unicorns. I easily recommened this book!
Very good! I'm looking for the next in the series.
