Great book and compelling story. I thought the characters were a little extreme, but I enjoyed following the rise and fall of the people in the book. I thought the ending fell a little flat on itself and got a little preachy, but all in all a great book.

I chose to read this book because I enjoyed Kaki Warner's Blood Rose Triology a lot. This story was OK; but not up to the bar set with Pieces of Sky. She paints her characters well; but this time around I was able to second guess how the characters would interact.

Through the eyes of a humble servant the story is told of the life of Christ. Although I thoroughly enjoyed this book I found it a little simplistic and written for a younger audience. The book did prompt thought on the conditions in which the Christ grew up and made me think of the common stories we know in a different light.
