I finished the book with a big Huh??I'm not sure how I feel about this book but I sure didn't enjoy it like I did the previous books. I couldn't get into the story so I ended up skimming through it. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood so to be fair I won't rate it. I reread D&C last night. I would settle it for 3 stars. I wanted to rate it higher but the storyline was lacking, Ty & Zane kept running in circles (I thought after 3 books, their relationship would have improved especially after F&C), I couldn't see the importance of adding in some characters and Ty, even without the 3 little words, it's obvious that Zane loved you and not to mention his characters had kind of deviated from the Ty I read in the last books. But Zane, you're adorable & really cool ok?? :) ~edited Oct,16~

Cool book, though it got me a little spaced out when I started thinking of this author and comparing her to Audrey Niffenegger. I thought of how my life may have been completely changed had I actually gone to see her (Audrey) speak when she was in town. Maybe she had a significant thing to add to my life that I didn't know I was missing or maybe it would have inspired me to see what Rebecca Stead (and others) call "lifting the veil." Opportunity lost. Both women wrote about similar things. I would explain exactly what but I don't want to give it away (so bluntly). I'm reaching a point where I could easily spin off into a tangent about the real and sudden appearance of strange things or the experience of suddenly looking out at the world in a different way for just a moment and then it's gone, things like that, but it's late and I'm too tired and I'll probably trip all over my rhetoric. So I'll digress. This book was recommended to me by two very separate people, one a child and one an adult. Both completely gushed about it. When that happens, I usually read the book. Good thing I did. It is a worthwhile story. It's better to read A Wrinkle in Time before getting your hands on this book. And, this could either be a great compliment to the author or a great big signal to me: this book makes me want to raise a child who loves to read.

As the situation in Afghanistan deteriorates, Amir and his father flee to the United States, while Hassan stays. This book is both beautiful and heartbreaking. A love letter to a country that no longer exists. I spent part of my childhood in Iran and the Afghanistan at the beginning of this book reminded me of the Iran that I loved as a child. I usually read books I love again and again but this one has stayed on the shelf. It's just to emotionally draining for me to read again.

I hate when people's expectations of a book are totally out of their league. I mean, everyone knows that this is a romance book for teenagers, so don't go in there expecting the next angels and demons. I personally loved the book and the development of the Jacob character. He was soooo sweet and cute and loving, and I wished Bella would have learned to love him. I think the author developed this character way better than she has done with Edward. It's hard to understand why Bella loves him so much, and not Jacob when it's obvious he is the better choice (I would've picked him). As I said, inmerse yourself into this book with a teenage mentality and heart. Reading this book with Harvard graduate eyes is not going to make it a pleasant read. I do think though that her books are ridiculously long...she could skip some parts that are irrelevant to the plot. Bella's character could have been stronger (she's always crying and whinning as if she's ever made out with edward) lol. Can't wait to buy my niece this book though. I think she'll love it!
