This book is a great read. It reveals more of the "Magic world" to the reader than any of the ones before it in the series. It is by far the longest in the series, and the first 100 pages or so may get a little annoying as the characters seem to be emotionally high-strung.

I loved this book...the time, setting, topic, everything. It was extremely well written, the kind of writing where I feel I'm standing there listening to the people talking and seeing what they're seeing. I absolutely loved the main character, Jacob, and it totally helped picturing him as a short-haired, steamy hot Robert Pattinson who will play him in the movie. My only complaint, (and it's a pretty big one) is the excessive language, especially the use of a particularly potent word, and the gratuitous sex scenes. Why, oh why, do they have to ruin such wonderful stories with such garbage? It's beyond me. So...I won't be recommending it due to that, which is sad, cause otherwise it was an amazing story.

The way we fall The book was absolutely different from the other books I read. I mean with the diary journal way of writing it was a different thing for me to read. Having to have read this book was a really different yet very memorable piece. I mean for a young girl like her who feels like they have done nothing, you should know that you have done something. Sometimes people who think they have done nothing is the reason why suicide occurs, when they feel like their not giving anything to the world just getting. Having read this book was painful yet very romantic seeing the atmosphere of the book, but at least the people around the book made it more and more interesting every time.

Murray's four truths are that our abilities vary, half of us are below average, too many of us go to college, and we need to educate the academically gifted in a better/different way. I agree with almost all of his ideas and was delighted to discover this book. Very provocative reading.

This is probably my favorite book in this series. The series is about Mrs Pollifax, a widow who decides she wants to be a spy for the CIA. By a mix up, she ends up doing some courier work for them, which turns into a career as a spy. She's a fiesty, lovable old lady!

I feel as though every review I leave for a Steve Jenkins book is just a copy of the whatever I read just before... but he is that consistent. This artist is brilliant at picking subjects that awe and intrigue young minds and stretch them to think in excited and curious ways. Whether is merely the illustrator or the collaborative writer and illustrator, his books grab our attention, feed our curiosity and launch conversation and further reading. Thanks to Jenkins, my not quite 4 year old is getting to think about about elementary and middle school sciences in a way that is accessible to him and fascinating. This book is really interesting! While the title implies something goofy, it is anything but. I think that I knew prior to reading that gorillas do not react well to the exposed teeth in a human's smile, but many of the other animals' reactions were new to me and utterly fascinating to my 4 year old. We had read another Jenkins book earlier in the week about fascinating fish and yet learned something new about the blow-fish in this one. This book is part survival guide, part animal science and part art. Perfect blend for a curious 4 preschooler!
