This book was enjoyable and I really like to write my reviews right after reading as my brain is quite adept at moving on to the next best thing —oo shiny!!!— yes like that, I need to write it for the third time. I wrote it, but my iPad didn't update it, and (yes stupidly) rewrote it and once again, well here we are. So let's see if I can remember what I wanted to say. This book is a solid 3...3.54978265 I really liked these characters. I loved that she managed to get his character across primarily from her thoughts on his actions as opposed to his internal maundering which can be SO popular with romance novels. It was refreshing not to hear from him for a good part of the beginning of the novel except very briefly. I quite enjoyed this story. The thing that dropped the rating to a three, for me, was what seemed like an uncomfortable...coupling. Yes. The sex, after all of the sex talk in this book, what with the courtesan obsession and the house they stayed in, etcetera, I expected MORE from the sex scene. I'm not saying length or breadth I'm saying depth and scope. (let the giggles commence) Now back to it. With all the emotion roiling through these two their coupling ended up being a bit of a disappointment, There was so much riding on it that when all was said and done, it felt more like a yadda yadda yadda. Now, I did not through my book across the room, after all I was reading on my iPad, but I wouldn't have anyway. What I DID however was drop the book to the bed with a loud "What the french TOAST!!" Yeah, I did. One other thing that bothered me was the confusing beginning, I understand (NOW) that this is part of a series and others will I know the multitude of names thrown around, but I did not and it made for some very confusing moments after which I simply moved on and hoped it didn't matter. Ultimately it didn't, which was nice, but then why bother to begin with. Anywhoo. Liked it, a lot. Didn't want to throw it across the room, no eye rolls and only one french toast. Recommended.
Autobiography by one of the top American soprano out there today. A great glimpse at what the life of a classical singer is really like.

This was a very good story! Kept me turning pages late into the night until I'd finished it. "Widower Luke Brand is a leader in the peaceful Amish community of Maplecreek. But now his people are under attack from unknown assailants-and the main target appears to be the children. Although the community is reluctant to turn to the outside world for help, a particularly vicious assault leads Luke to the local police. Policewoman Kat Lindley is running from the big city job that nearly got her killed, and from the memories of the abused boy she failed to save. Now she agrees to undertake a dangerous masquerade within the Amish community, desperate to save Maplecreek's children. Together Luke and Kat are determined to bring justice to the perpetrators, while struggling to suppress the unspoken and forbidden feelings growing between them. But when the case takes a deadly turn, Kat must race to uncover the menace that threatens the people she has grown to deeply respect-before Luke becomes the next target."

I was told I'd like The Lord of the Rings better if I read The Hobbit. No such luck.

I read the book and it is very amazing and interesting I don't know what people don't like in Dan Brown's novels He is a very genius man who is able to connect all information he studied in a one homogeneous plot This novel, "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels & Demons" are three masterpieces - I still didn't read "Deception Point" and "The Digital Fortress" The novel deals with symbols, places, dates and events in a professional manner It is very interesting that I spent 6 continuous hours to finish it without feeling the time passing I advise all readers to read it

Bringing attention to many of our human and American flaws, this collection of short stories is more potent in some of the stories than others. Although it is very 1950's in sensibility, we've only changed in some ways that would make these stories feel dated. Not quite as powerful to me as Fahrenheit 451, still a good read to make one aware of our human powers to destroy and be ignorant of our surroundings.

The way conversation and speaking was handled was annoying. There weren't quotation marks. Just dashes. Like this -. Sometimes it made figuring out when the conversation ended and thoughts began a little difficult. And it didn't really end.
Dean Karnazes is an inspiration and proves that all of us can do far more than we can imagine, especially when it comes to physical exertion/stamina. Completing the Western 100, finishing the first marathon to the South Pole, running across Death Valley in a 135-mile race, even his remarkable 199-mile run to Santa Cruz to prove to himself that it could be done . . . these are commendable. But perhaps the thing that found most remarkable is that Dean holds down a regular job, has a regular family and still manages to train for these incredible feats without disrupting the balance of things. (Admittedly, he does much of his running late at night, going for months on four hours sleep!) Another thing I found remarkable is his apparent modesty. Most of his co-workers did not even know about this training and racing because he would keep a regular work schedule and make a point not to complain despite fatigued muscles and depleted electrolytles. Good example for the rest of us who may gripe about a stubbed toe or paper cut. I read this in three sittings because it is both a compelling story and very well written/edited.
I liked this book -- I did. It was fun in the way all Discworld books are fun, but it wasn't as gripping. I don't think the flaw was in the book, but in how I relate to the characters. The wizards aren't my favorite recurring characters, so the combination of familiar characters that aren't my favorites and new characters made me less inclined to devour it the way I would other Discworld books. I did love the take of sports culture (I can't speak for soccer/football, but American football can get damned crazy), and by the end of the book I was eager to see where it was going. I got attached to the characters by the end, and I thought it was a satisfying ending. Definitely read it -- it's fun.
