Totally predictable, but that is not a surprise. I didn't pick it up thinking that it was anything different.

I was a bit disappointed after The Glass Castle, but still enjoyed it.

This book was extremely comforting for me after losing my baby just a few months ago. After giving birth 17 weeks early and then losing my son a week later, I could completely relate with the feelings/thoughts/pain she describes. Her stories break your heart but help you reflect tofind the strength and happiness even in your hardest moments.

I'm not really sure I want to finish this - I'm so close, but I don't want it to end the way I think it will. This is a really interesting yet easy read for anyone looking for a quick book. The weaving of a war and a fairytale is something I had never considered.

Aidan and Alex's book was O.K. Although I had a hard time finishing The Dark Prince. I continued to read a couple of more books from the series (because my neighbor had them and gave the books to me to read). This story was not as difficult to read as The Dark Prince was.

This was another enjoyable book to read. I seem to be reading a lot of make-believe lately but I guess I'm always in the mood for a good escape. This book is based off of one of the Grimms' fairy tales. I wasn't as familiar with the tale but it turned out to be one of my favorites. I wouldn't be surprised if some year or other this ended up as a Disney movie.

Kind of a strange little book because I'm not sure who the intended audience is. Too dull for your average middle-older reader. I picked it up because, well, if I were going to write my own memoir of my fifth-grade year (or any year between first and 10th grade, really), it too would be about tuna fish.

Some cool new ways of viewing old statistics, not visually, but argumentitavely. For example, he attributes the drop in crime across the US in the 90s to legalized abortion of the 70s, not crime laws. It has some interesting stories, and makes you appreciate that all statistics should not be taken at face value. Otherwise it's a few interesting facts and stories, but not much in the way of lessons.

It’s interesting to read books that were written a long time ago; the writing style is so obviously different from what is produced today, that it’s no wonder people sometimes have a tough time getting into an older novel. While I didn’t have a hard time getting in to R.M. Ballantyne’s The Coral Island, the writing style was pretty different and a little preachy by the end. Ralph, Jack and Peterkin (yes, really) are ship’s boys on a British sailing vessel when they are marooned on an island in the South Pacific after a storm. Luckily for them, the island has pretty much everything they need to stay alive and things go well for them; they have several exciting adventures, including one where they meet penguins, and they have a grand time. But once a group of natives lands on their island, the whole story goes down hill. The natives fight each other, and then sail away again, and then there are pirates that come to the island, and Ralph is kidnapped and taken away, but he makes it back, and it feels kind of tacked-on and it’s not as much fun as the first part. The Coral Island is definitely a part of the long line of marooned-on-a-desert-island stories that include Robinson Crusoe and Treasure Island, and while it’s not as good as either of those, the first part of the story is a lot of fun and an interesting look at entertainment in the middle of the 19th century.
