Okay so I'm cheating...I actually read "Prayer and the Art of Volkswagon Maintenance" but it is out of print so I can't add it. Donald Miller signed with a new publisher and republished this book under its new title "Through Painted Deserts." It is incredible.

Axel Taiari’s A Light to Starve By is set in a modern-day Paris where vampires have run out of places to feed. Most vampires have joined one of the many clans that have popped up since the civil war, but our unnamed narrator claims no affiliations, a loner who is slowly starving to death like most others. Life is tough for these vampires. If they’re not fighting each other, they’re running from hunters who ruthlessly scour the city in search of the undead. I really liked the unique twist on this vampire tale. I like that the humans are aware of the vampires and, as humans do with every other annoyance, develop ways of dealing with them that threaten to force the vampires into extinction. Others have considered moving to other countries, but the narrator needs to stay in Paris. He’ll starve if he has to, but there is something from his past in Paris that he can’t leave behind. Taiari’s prose is precise and visceral, and it really places the reader in this story. The little nuances of this world are what make it real for the reader. This is a short but exciting read. Read it in about an hour, but it will stick with me for much longer. Don’t know if the author has a sequel in mind, but I know that I’d like to see one. This is definitely a world that is worthy of one, or perhaps a series of stories set in the same world.
I loved this book. It reflected exactly how I feel about politics at the moment.

This was a quick and fun read, especially with the setting in B rookline, MA. I'll recommend it to tween girls who like books like Lauren Myracle's "Luv Ya Bunches" and "Eleven" series.
Cute, short story. I wish there had been a bit more struggle to it all, little too easy. Still light, fun read for an easy afternoon:)

Intense! Quirky! Tearful! Fantastic!!!! I found myself lost in this book from start to finish... Phury shed a whole different light on the series, as did prior books. It's amazing how J.R. Ward captures each brother in all of the books and yet each book has its own personality... Phury's book took me to a whole different corner, a totally different level... I cried... literally, I laughed out loud and beyond that, I was totally angry at times... I lived in this world and within each page I found something new... Heart warming, sad, wistful, strong and simply beautiful.... I loved Phury's story and once again my favourite author topped my imagination through her wonderful words... Recommended... highly (after the other books of course!) **huge sighs**
Very good book, keeps your attention all the way till the end.

Okay, this is where Brust really starts to lose the plot.
