I can't really remember all the names of the characters or all the plot lines... But I still have a total visual image of nearly the entire book. One of the most satisfying endings of any book I've ever read.

Wonderful story that I wouldn't have known about had it not been for friends on Goodreads. Utterly charming.
Odd book, but it made me think, and I like that.

Not as bad as other Hemingway I've read, but far from something I really enjoyed reading. It's one of those "notch on my belt" kind of books that I'm glad I finally read just because it's referenced by other authors other places, but not really something I took any pleasure in reding.

I wonder how someone can write about the miserable lives in a fantastic way that you enjoy reading about!

It's the history of middle earth from the beginning to the War of the Ring (Lord of the Rings), but it's really interesting.

I really needed a change of pace and picked up this book that I inherited from a friend (thereby getting one book off my 'books I own and have never read shelf :) I have read one other Harlan Coben book. He writes a good suspense story. I had a really hard time putting it down. Formulaic? Maybe - I haven't read him enough to know if his books are 'all the same.' All I know is that he built up the suspense and maintained it pretty well throughout. It was a somewhat complicated plot, so reading it in basically 2 sittings was helpful. I can't worry about whether or not all the legal issues were dealt with correctly. I only care that it was a good story that kept me guessing and wanting to find out what was really happening. I guess I did sort of figure out one of the mysteries/twists - just a thought in passing, as I didn't dwell on it and just kept reading :) AND, I must be in a hyper-sensitive-to-description mood. I kind of blasted the last book I read for its goofy physical descriptions and then found myself doing the same thing here - he used the phrase "itchy finger" (or something) twice - only twice, many pages apart, and it just stood out to me. Maybe I'm grumpy :) Anyway, good change of pace and good read.

Very honest, very glaring, very hard to put down. Amazing read. I never liked Bombay as a city but this book on Bombay is fascinating nonetheless.
