This is really a strange book, but it's strange in a way that is distictly beautiful. That's probably the best way I can think of to describe its protagonist as well; it's stange enough that an androgenous teddy bear should come to life, magically give birth, and stand trial for crimes he didn't commit, but this particular bear - Winkie - has got to be the creepiest stuffed animal there ever was. And there are pictures. Just as the book unexpectedly reveals its true depth and breadth with astonishingly poetic depictions of mundane things, Winkie him/herself becomes sureptitiously complex, gorgeous, and human as his thoughts are revealed. If you're up for something bizarre and unexpected, you won't be disappointed.

HoU is the story of a history of sakes named lady and debt of promos Tina unicorn of many generations past. HoU begin in the land of the Fabulous Beast and a world torn asunder when a rift inthe fabric of the world, a portal left unfolded, let's in a diabolical hunter and a grand weaver into a world filled with fantastical creatures and an agrarian society that recently has lived a simple midevil existence. A story developed of a weaver who wanted to change the rapid abuse of the world by the hands if the Hunter, the Leo and his destruction of the fantasical beasts, and his tyrany as the King. A greatly removed ancestors promise brings a unicorn into the modern age to bring to the Fantasical Beast tell a young girl who can change history, end the reign of the Leo, and keep a pure world for our great imagined creature to live alongside humans and keep a world clean. With trees and tapestrys as gateways between the worlds and life threatening decisions, HoU has amazing characters and a thrilling plot that brigs a new voice out in the YA, that reads well for a variety of ages. I enjoyed the plot and the developments, and the backstory was intriguing and worked well blended unto the present day plot that was happening.

the aftermath of WW2 and the guilt/grief of one man who goes back to France to atone. Pretty good as I remember, but not always convincing.

I read this book as part of the the Southwestern Literature class I was taking at the time. I enjoyed it a great deal though, more so than the other books of the area that we have read. As a Catholic I was able to personally relate to many of the trials that Antonio has to face as a youth questioning his fate. I think anyone though that has questioned their faith or even just elders in general can relate to the feelings the author describes. The landscape descriptions are breath taking and the characters are engaging. I would definitely recommend this to other readers especially those who aren't irked by magical realism.
follow the signs!!...fantastic!
He is too fascinating a man, and has left far too large an imprint on modern Singapore history for this to be an uninteresting book. Having lived through many of the climactic moments surrounding the foundation of the modern Singapore state, this first volume of memoirs would have value in itself as a historical account of what happened. Still, one gets the sense in reading this of a didactic lecturer not seeking justification - he never has felt the need - but closer to that of a stern father instructing his wayward children. One gets the sense that the events, his personal image and everything else is presented through a very particular and finely polished patina. This is sad, as all too often, what lies beneath is far more interesting.

An incredible story about a rich old man whose body is failing him but whose mind is still sharp as a razor. He has his brain transplanted into the body of a young girl who dies in a car crash (I guess she suffers from tramatic brain injury only). It's interesting in how it describes his gender identity and sexuality after the transplant, et.c

i learned to be wary of the man w/ a single glove. the lesson was always there for us and still we let michael jackson rise to power. if you are a tard do not think of the bunnies. i love it when dreams don't come true.
This title is the first in the Dark Hunters series, and is the kind of sensual paranormal romance that might appeal to you. Although this book is about a man trapped in a novel, the rest of the series involves vampires.

I enjoy 20th century classic novels and had always heard Joyce's name mentioned in that category so I decided to try his well-known book "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man." I don't know what I was expecting but it was not this. He has a different writing style that was hard to follow. Plus, like a huge chunk in the middle of the book focused on religion - Catholicism in particular - and rambled on about sin, repentence, punishment, hell, forgiveness, temptation, etc. Just really not what I expected and I guess I was kind of disappointed.
