Beware, Earthlings. Fluffy bunnies with hypnotic eyes from the marshmallow planet (which circles a Starburst sun) are on the attack. They've landed near Camp Whatsitooya and are looking for enough sustenance--candy and marshmallows--to be strong enough to take over Earth. Mmmm, yum. Nothing like sugar-fed earthlings to satisfy the appetite. I'm not sure why I like this book as much as I do but some reasons might be-- the combination of narrative with graphic novel style the sheer silliness of the story the fact that the protagonists, twins Joules and Kevin with their friend Nelson, figure out how to outsmart the fluffy bunnies I was in the mood to have fun with a silly story Probably about 4th grade or so and up.

Gerald Samper, British ex-pat in Tuscany, was introduced in COOKING WITH FERNET BRANCA and continues his witty, outrageous doings here. The characters are over the top and very funny as they solve problems. The loss of his house to an earthquake leads Samper to agree that Princess Di appeared and saved everyone in the doomed house. It becomes zanier thereafter.

Such a compelling plot premise! It takes some time to wrap your head around the time-travelling chronology, but the characters and story are amazing. I think I will want to read this again to appreciate it even more.

Not bad but difficult to read.
richly imaginative; takes amazing leaps.
Ever wanted Science to explain instinct and intuition? This book does that. It will make you learn to trust or question your habitual mind in all the right ways. If you read 10 books with this kind of power... you might just suddenly morph into a freakin' super hero.

Loved this book -- went into a LOT of detail that is a bit too shocking for words! Am still in the midst of reading it, but it definitely does bring back memories of college! PICK IT UP!!

This is the spiciest historical novel I've read. The book begins with a girl who comes from a family that owns a clam shack. The symbolism really says it all, and let me assure you, Waters doens't stop there. But I will, for now, because there are lots of really great scenes that I don't want to ruin with my big mouth. A coming of age story made immortal in my mind by the huge leather dildo that reappears during climatic moments. I've already said to much. Find a quiet corner of the library and enjoy the fun lesbian revelry!
I remember reading this book straight out of high school, and I remember it changing my life. I generally think it's misinterpreted as a way to be a self-involved, conservative (read: republican) asshole to all passers-by. It's likely more an anthem for anarchists, who I misunderstood before reading this book. I identify strongly with Rand because her biggest message is not to destroy the world, but to remake it the way that best suits your life. It gets a little fishy if you read her non-fiction because she has more to say on what a person 'should' be doing. Still, Atlas Shrugged is a classic and I suggest it to anyone. P.S. did anyone else think casting Angelina Jolie in the upcoming movie is completely insane?!
