It was very good, and as usual it's a page turner and full of thrill. I can't hardly put down the book, and very excited everytime I turn the page :)I would highly recommend for anybody to read this book. Lisbeth did kicked the hornet's nest, which make the story very exciting.

I won this book a few months ago . . . I was really looking forward to this book, it had such an interesting premise. A futuristic world where women were entering the sports world for good would ignite changes in world leadership and policy. The book seemed very much like Dan Brown's DaVinci Code, but at a much slower rate. I was really confused at the sudden turns the plot took. There always seemed to be a new threat, with nothing happening until the end of the book. I would have really liked to seen what the war would have been like. Maybe, start the novel from the president's speech and go on from there. I don't believe there was enough characterization in the novel to carry the plot. A story involving the horrors of war would have worked much better.
A great tale of perception, reality, and control.
Good. Dark, but good.

inspired story
I enjoyed The Kite Runner so much that I preordered this as soon as humanly possible. Khaled Hosseini is a particularly gifted author that focuses on particularly powerful source material. Both of his (fictional) books are set against the (nonfiction) historical background of Afghanistan. while the The Kite Runner focuses on a family that leaves Afghanistan during the decades of turmoil and returns after the U.S. invasion after 9/11, A Thousand Splendid Suns focuses on two women who don't have that chance. There's a lot of nuance to this book: fundamentalism is often the root cause of much of the pain in this book (and there's a lot of it). On the other hand, some of the most beautiful scenes in the book come from humble, heartfelt faith. This very human story is set against a subtle (and appropriate, I think) backdrop that reminds us that much of the pain (the warlords, the Taliban, the soviet invasion) are the result of foreign meddling: by the Russians, the Americans, Iran, and countless others. This book therefore contains complementary messages: love & friendship beget beauty in even the harshest of circumstances and The actions & inactions that we take as a nation can result in unimaginable suffering.

Very good read. It took me forever to read it, but I am glad I kept going. Funny and the characters are great.
