So very much potential...and such a let down. There is such a build up of leading to the apocalypse, and then...nothing. Nothing happens!

This book seemed so silly and melodramatic. There were some parts of it I liked, but overall, not a huge fan. I'm sure I'll read the rest in the series; hopefully there aren't too many and hopefully they improve.
I really liked this book! Not everyone did, though. For me it was fascinating getting a glimpse of a place and time that proved formative for the US. Though the two stories (serial killer and superstar architect) don't really seem to intertwine much. And it's part historical fiction but extremely well-researched. One of the comments from other bookclubbers - an overarching generalization and spit-shining of the politics and poverty of the time.

9/9/15 Re-read this as I had realized it had been over 12 yrs since I had read it. Started listening to it as an audiobook but pulled out the hard copy I had at home to read along. I had forgotten about the whole beginning in India and the garden being in Yorkshire. I still love this book, but it was interesting to hear it as well as re-read it after I listened to it. This is one of the few books I go back and re-read every few yrs.

Oh, this is amazing! I guess the only other 9/11 novel I've read is Someday this Pain will be Useful to you, which doesn't focus on it as much as this one. Extremely gripping and incredibly emotional, the characters are memorable.

The most funny and practical book I've read about the whole process. Insightful, easy to read, and truthy, this book is itching to be loaned out to whomever might want interview tips and great stories.

I am loving this book!
I'm warning you this paragraph is full of shallow nonesense. Those who know me know I usually like dark-haired guys -even in books. A blond guy has to have something extra -especially in books- Bones from Night Huntress or even Jace for Mortal Instruments pulled that off ;). So when I read William had dark hair and blue eyes I was excited to find a hero that could both be hilarious and look like I like them to. And yet, halfway through the book I realized that in my mind, while I was picturing the scene I was reading, William was a tall blonde. Why you ask? Simple, HE IS JACE. Seriously. I mixed them up because they are literally THE SAME CHARACTER. The same humor, the same inner struggle, the same cockiness… Had I read this one before Mortal Instruments things would have gone differently. I was also happy Tessa was a brunette! We don't get many brunettes… PR heroines are always either redheads or have raven black hair. There's always the occasional blond but still. And I actually liked her. Now, off land of shallowness, I gotta say, I loved the ending. Happy the author didn’t pull a ‘I’m your brother’ on us, but still rather pleased about how things went between Tessa and Will, because otherwise it would be too easy. And actually Will being a jerk made me like him even more. I hate when all men seem to go on their knees for the heroine. The setting was probably what I liked most. I’m a sucker for Victorian Times and London. The dresses and the institute being a church looking like a castle were awesome. Yet, I feel most of this was not exploited, the characters could’ve visited more locations but they were in the institute most of the time. Another thing I loved about this book was Jem. He was such an interesting character, but then again, there’s absolutely no chance of him ending with our leading lady. Either he’ll die, and that will pull Tessa and Will together, or he’ll end up with Sophie (Who, BTW, is really Maia from MI), which makes more sense since it would explain why the author (view spoiler) My one complaint: Why wasn’t Will really drunk? I know YA authors don’t want to corrupt young people’s minds but sometimes a drunken character is endearing! He’d be clumsy and sexy (as long he’s not the puking kind) and he’d start spilling the beans and opening up his feelings, you know? When I read that scene I was like, ’Yes! This is gonna be fun!’ but then no, he wasn’t. I haven’t really made up my mind as to whether I like this or Mortal Instruments better. I know they probably are two versions of the same book, but I think this one wins. Mainly, because there’s no Clary in it and secondly, there’s no incest. Oh, and did I mention Jace has black hair in it? LOL. You know, the author said we should read Infernal Devices before City of Fallen Angels, because over there we’ll see characters from both series come together so I’m extra excited to read that one, even if I felt MI series already had an ending. Cassandra Clare’s books are all very similar and predictable, but what can I say, as so happens with Susan King’s books, I love every version!

** spoiler alert ** The viking symbol mystery. By franklin w.dixon. This book is about a family who solve mysterys about anything all across north america. In this book a rune stone is stolen and needs to be found before the theives translate it and find the treasure. They will run into knife throwers, armed theives and booby traps. The whole book is awsome so i can not really say what the best part of the book is. Their where no worst parts in this book. I liked this book because of all the action and how they always know what to do. I also liked how they where so smart and brave enough to do all this stuff.
