Really interesting, although I decided I only want to have boys after reading it. Not as good as some of Picoult's other books.

What a fun way to learn the alphabet. This book is full of big colorful pages that is a perfect introduction to a variety of fruits and vegetables.

Two English professors change places through a professorial exchange program in the 70s. The British prof ends up at a thinly disguised Berkeley and the American prof ends up at what I've been told is a thinly disguised Birmingham. I wouldn't know. Of course, they end up enmeshed with each other's wives and department politics. I appreciated the way the story was told in different styles. Sometimes straight on prose, a chapter told in newspaper clippings, a chapter told in correspondence, a chapter told in script form. Some interesting insights to the culture at the time. The book was written in the 70s, so it does date itself. But all in all was excellent.

No cliche left unturned. What is the deal with Sparks anyway? Sappy books, making for sappy movies. Oy!

I read it at the airport. It passed the time, but not necessarily in a good way.
I give it to all the punk rock kids in my classes who don't really know who the New York Dolls or mc5 or the Stooges are.

Engaging crime novel/thriller. For me it's somewhere between 3 and 4 stars: it's well written and plotted and I like the main characters, but there isn't the same atmospheric magic of Mankell's Wallander series.

I'm quite surprised about this book. I expected it to be utterly prescriptive and old-fashioned, but it includes several words with (by Bastian Sick and somesuch people claimed to be) nowadays supposedly wrong forms described as being colloquial (umgangssprachlich), which they actually are, or were, 25 years ago. I took and keep this book for historical referential purposes. It's interesting. My copy of the books looks a little different, though.
I thought it was a very good read, highlighting the causes of the financial crisis in the US and why if it continues with it's current policies, it is in line to loose it's crown as the global economic power. However, professional economists are not that good at predicting future outcomes. Alot of the predictions are based on alot of "ifs", if the US continues its trend on becoming a welfare state, if the US continues with its current foreign policies, if China and the rest continue on allowing their people extra freedoms, if oil prices continue to rise or reserves run out, etc etc. . .
