The Island is beautifully written. I enjoyed the history which unfolds for the main character. I was unaware of a Leper colony off the coast of Crete but was fascinated by a group of people sent away for life. The only thing which kept me from giving this 5 stars was the ending seemed very rushed. The book was moving along smoothly then boom....lots of events happen in the last few chapters. It didn't flow as well as it should have. All in all, a fantastic read.

I thought from a fun reading point of view this book was bad. Out of all three Carlos' story is the only one that was fun to read due to the sarcasm. I admired the fact that this book showed an insight into reality and not the whole happily ever after crap that happened with Nikki in the beginning of the book with he relationship with Marco. I also liked the fact it shows teens the hard emotional effects of being pregnant at 15 let alone have a miscarriage at such an early age. It also shows that boys can be real jerks to girls (Marco). I thought this book had the most unexpected ending, which I love! (¡LOVE unexpected events!) But all in all the book just like the others had that West Side Story/ Romeo and Juliet crap that went on which I hated.
