Great book, i would never wan't to live in this kind of totalitarian/utopian society but some of the options they gave the public were interesting..i can't wait to see what happens in book two.

** spoiler alert ** I don't usually read Danielle Steel books, But I'm glad I read this one. This book takes place during the Holocaust. A Jewish woman converts to Catholicism to marry another catholic man which made her family and his disown both of them. They marry and have 2 children and unfortunately he dies when there youngest is 2 just as Hitler is taking rein and they are forced to hide there heritage but they end up getting caught. It's a wonderful book with many more stories going on. I didn't like how the story was ended and two of the main characters were never mentioned again. But non the less a very good book.

An excellent character study as well as mystery novel. It takes place in both Ireland and Boston.I think that Quinn, the protaganist, will be appearing in another book. Let's hope so. He is a complex, dark character that I want to read more about him.

Not only is this book important in terms of examining the difficulties arising in cross cultural communication, but it's damn engaging and interesting. The book is well written, is not preachy and does not lay the blame for the tragedy which occurs to one Hmong family and their American doctors on one person or culture.

Though I think the langauge in this book can be a bit surface level at times, Swami's coverage of the basic tenents gives a good introduction for those who are unacquainted with Vedanta.
