This is a good resource for feeding ideas and I liked their philosophy on babies and food.

Rereading this whole series again, one that I really truly adore, I've noticed how different Lena is in Delirium than in the other two sequels. Her character strength and growth is enormous and here, the summer before her 18th birthday where she is scheduled to be cured from pain and hate and passion and the disease of Amor Deliria Nervosa or love is where it all begins. Lena starts out as naive and believing everything she has been told and desperately wants to fit in to society even though in society's terms, her family is tainted blood. She falls in love and realizes that many held truths that she has been told all her life might not be true after all. Conflict and drama ensues etc. I first read this series two years ago when it recently came out and the trend in YA was shifting from paranormal romance to dystopia and to be perfectly honest, I was more than suspicious of this romance dystopia hybrid machine that for me just screamed hack and money making machine. I was pleasantly surprised and it turned out exceeding my expectations. The idea behind this series is wild but not as far-fetched as it first seems. I would say give it a try because the more you get into this world, the more it pays off in the end.

This book was really good! But a rated it four stars because it's a ghost story which,of course, it's scary! One part was so nerve wrecking, it made my heart beat faster than it ever has before! Read this book!

I really enjoyed most of this book, but the story is so unfinished. I'll have to read the next one, which I guess is the point.

This was NOT a book I ever thought I'd read--I admit I only picked it up because my book club chose it. I am not a spiritually religious person, but I do have an academic interest in religious topics (especially perception of women) , so this turned out to be an absolutely magical read for me. It's been about 6 years since I read the book, so I don't remember details of the plot, but I know I was mesmerized from start to finish. Maybe I should reread...

I was hoping for something that was more local history and less music history/coffee table book.

After reading and loving Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead, I was rather disappointed with this one. My main gripes with it are: For someone so smart, the character is uncommonly neurotic; you can't relate to him like you can to Ender, so you don't care if he dies; the plot lines are rather trivial and unbelievable, even for sci-fi; I could go on, but it just feels like too much time has gone by, and the author lost his touch with the world he created.

The Last Uniform v. 1 has a feeling of nostalgia to it, not unlike Azumanga Daioh (not to mention being broken up into very short chapters that give a similar flow to the 4-panel comic style of Azumanga Daioh). Relationships are key, and while this series teeters towards the ideas of same-sex crushes, there is still that similar theme of the power of friendship. However, while Azumanga Daioh is purely comedic, The Last Uniform might be considered purely sweet. There is light humor, but it isn't overpowering, and mostly there's an overwhelming gentleness to it. It's certainly not for all tastes, but it's a nice piece of slice-of-life girls' love.

Not at all what I expected. Very dark.
