Ironically enough, my possible-future-mother-in-law loaned this book to me. I read it mostly before bed, and blame it for some of the crazy dreams I had last week. It was interesting in sort of a watch-the-lions-eat-someone's-limb sort of way.

His father is the president of the Council. Lukas works for Sebastiani Security. Scarlett Fontaine is the lead singer in a rock band. She is also a siren. Scarlett has been on the road for a long time and is ready for some rest and relaxation. Unfortunately, someone has other plans. Someone is attacking the people around Scarlett. It is up to Lukas to protect Scarlett, though who will protect him from Scarlett? Taste Me is the first book in a brand new series called the Underbelly Chronicles. Not to be mistaken for paranormal but this book is definitely urban fantasy. It is darker, edgier, sensual and way hotter than paranormal. I thought Scarlett and Lukas were hot together, though the romance did not start until about middle way into the book. The story line surrounding the attacks was exciting. While I did enjoy this book and liked the various different characters in this story, I did wish that there was more happening. It did feel like the first book in a series with the build up to where the next book would be even better. Taste Me is a yummy morsel to what author, Tamara Hogan has to offer.

Ok, I just received this book in the mail from bn.com, and I open to the first page and discover that this author's only other book is about... marijuana. Hmm. I'm still going to give it a try, but I'm definitely a little skeptical.

A book club selection - follows the letters that Galileo's daughter, a nun in convent, sent to him throughout her life. An okay read, but you've got to be pretty interested in the topic to get through it.

I learned that chicklit can have an intelligent, ambitious heroine. She doesn't have to be aimless or lost. She's witty and has a sense of humour, and carries an awareness of likeable things about herself. She doesn't need a man to be complete, or to appreciate herself. The story has much wish-fulfillment, and it's fun. The penultimate twist was unexpected and I found it oddly downbeat, but there is a good ending.
