I was wondering if I would feel like I had to give this book 5 stars simply because the author and I were very good friends in High school and much of college and I think she's great; but I found that the book deserved all 5 stars. Abby's story is told as a wonderful, mostly chronological narrative and goes through the beginning of her time with Planned Parenthood to the end; why she began to work with them and why she left after 8 years. It shows her thoughts and emotions and is told in a bold, yet non-abrasive way. It will likely get you to think about your stance on the issue of abortion and Planned Parenthood's role in that with American tax dollars going to it while it has changed its business plan, yet in no way does it lecture. My personal feelings on abortion remain unchanged but I had some insight into emotions involved with it from both sides of the issue. It was an interesting, thought-provoking read and I recommend it.

This book makes you think about choices and how they affect our lives. What path we take and how each choice leads us down different paths. This book makes it very black and white. Good or evil. I don't feel like that is the way life really is. I believe that there are many choices that are bad, good, better and then some that are best. Something that would be best for me might be bad for someone else. I didn't agree with a lot of the ideas within the book, but I was drawn into the story.

I am so disappointed in this book. It was a struggle to finish it because the characters are some of the most unlikable characters I have ever met. And Willow is unable to illicit even the smallest amount of sympathy from me throughout the entire book which is sad in itself. I just did not enjoy it at all. The plot was weak, the story lagged in a lot of places, and the characters were just people on a page, I didn't feel like I actually knew any of them.

Very short book, but pretty amazingly written. Reminded me a LOT of Ian McEwan's style. Very interesting characters and story.

I loved this book so much! I was drawn to this book because some reviews compared it to "Rebecca" which is one of my favorite books. It definitely has a "Rebecca" feel to it but the mystery was unraveled so well and the words were so descriptive that it also reminded me of Kate Morton's books. Very well written, beautiful, suspenseful book.

I liked her way of telling the story. I knew next to nothing about the mathematical work of Turning and Godel before I read the book, so it was a nice bonus to find out about that. Janna Levin herself seems to be struggling with the question of whether humans have free well or not- and her thought process is fascinating, although I will admit that I don't have enough scientific knowledge to speculate about the kinds of philosophical (and ultimately theological) ideas she wrestles with.
