this is a long, slow read, but a unique story makes it worth the patience. fowles methods and examinations fascinate me.

I am thrilled to find a historical romance writer who allows her female lead to "act out". The first time we meet her, she is "cursing" as she comes into a room. James (male lead) and Julia play off each other very well. They have chemistry, but they are also able to communicate with each other openly and without the prim, shyness you often see in these types of romances. The other characters are also very interesting and they all play off each other very well. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!

This book was good, although I found it to be a little slow during the middle. it keeps you guessing but the slowness seems to overpower the need to want to know whats about to happen next.

a very well reaserched book. Accurate and well written. Italians have a short memory, they should all read this book... funny that the best books about Italy are not written by Italians

Great coverage of exposing and consuming a RESTful service using WCF. Note that you'll need the services of a good WCF book, this builds on existing WCF expertise and doesn't try that hard to bring you up to speed. Which isn't a bad thing, it keeps the book relatively short and focused. I'll be referring back to this one often.

I know holocaust books are disturbing but I think they were written because those people didn't want what they went through to be forgotten. This reads very fast.
I loved this. I'm lucky enough to be meeting the author in a couple of weeks, and can't wait. Tamar is all at the same time a ww2 espionage story, a love story (of sorts) and a mystery. It sits beautifully upon the border between Young Adult and Adult fiction, and could (and should) be read by adults and teenagers alike. Peet's research is clearly thorough, and is evident in every last tiny aspect of both the historical and contemporary aspects of the narrative. His characters are believeable, their situation unenviable, and the tension that runs through the novel is palpable. I've got two more Mal Peet books on my shelf at the moment, and can't wait to get to them.

After reading Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series, I've been very excited to start the Kane Chronicles series. I'm not too familiar with Egyptian mythology (kind of just know the basics), so this book was actually quite eduational for me. There was a lot of things I didn't know about Egypt and Egypt mythology. Like the first Percy Jackson book though, I still felt like The Red Pyramid was trying to force alot into me at once. I got a bit confused with the different creatures (alot of them had similar names). Sadie and Carter were excellent protagonists for the story. They were a brother and sister who only ever met twice a year, and through the whole book they learned to discover each other. At first I thought this series would be the same as the Percy Jackson series with the kids being the children of the gods, so it was nice for the setup to be more about Sadie and Carter being descended from the pharaohs and that it was all about being the host for a god. I also liked Riordan's layout with having Sadie narrate a few chapters, then switch to Carter for a few other chapters. I admit, I did get a little confused sometimes with the switching narrator, especially if, say, Sadie narrated for about 2-3 chapters at a time, and then the narration switched to Carter for another 2-3 chapters. But it was easily to adjust to that after a while. Gotta say: loved Bast and Anubis! I think they were two of my fave characters. Bast is basically a human cat, what's not to love? And then Anubis, I've always been fascinated with that god from mythology. I think the only big problem I had with the book was that I felt it was rushed in some places, or not explained enough. There was alot to take in, especially when the revelations occured about which gods were in whose body, who was good, who was bad. It seemed like Sadie and Carter just naturally did things, and I sometimes felt like the scenarios they were dropped into didn't pose them much of a challenge---there was always an easy way out, or a character just happened to rescue them in the nick of time. Events felt kind of random rather than having a point A to B to C. Overally, I did like the book though, especially the characters. Plus, I learned alot of about Egypt!
Very interesting take on learning the truths about ivesting. Easy read, very valuable information.
** spoiler alert ** My God the moment he died I felt like Chloe had pulled my heart out and chopped it into a million pieces, I still feel that way and now I’m curious of how she’s going to make this work. Ethan’s dead I can acknowledge that (I think) but that dream that Merit had she said that I felt real to her. I think I’m just confused and mourning. Chloe Neill how could you do this ?? :(
