The start of the book was slow, but once I made it to the 5th chapter the book started picking up. Then the book was a quick read from there until the end.

I didn't make it through this book. I read to about chapter 3 and it was still going over pretty basic history of cosmology, like Galileo discovered that the earth rotated around the sun. Maybe the long intro is necessary but it wasn't grabbing my attention.

I recently finished reading Doc, a novel written by Mary Dora Russell. If you are a fan of western history like I am, you will without a doubt enjoy this book. The author tells the story with a lot of historical facts, tied together with just the right amount of fiction to keep the reader engrossed in the book. I really enjoyed this book, to me a good book has got to draw me in and allow me to see the action and surroundings in my mind. This book was able to do that and more, the only problem I had is a problem that is common to all really good books; I wasn’t ready for it to end. Thank you for allowing me to read the advance copy, I look forward to your next endeavor.

This was a great prequel novella to what is looking like an awesome new series!! It was a very quick read that introduces you to the female MC, and gives you a little bit of background on her. It definitely whet my appetite for the first book in the series!
