I read this when it first came out and found it horrifying then and thinking of it again now I still feel the same way. It is one of the most riveting true crime stories I have ever read. I actually cried as I read about the beautiful little babies that she killed like nothing, no emotion, all to put herself in the spotlight. I will never understand her and have absolutely no sympathy for a piece of human trash such as that.

Excellent book. I read this book yrs ago and didn't even know who Maya Angelou was... I know must have grown up in a shed! Needless to say, after reading her book, I was moved beyond words and have been a fan ever since.

Read this one in about 5 hours, couldn't put it down! Great read, loved the trademark Patterson twists & turns.

In the beginning, the main character decides to join her parents in the deep freeze as they travel to a distant planet - she decides to freeze even after watching he parents go through the painful procedure and after her father gives her the option to stay behind with her aunt and uncle. During the freeze she has weird and non-lucid dreams until suddenly she finds that she's awake and before her time - or so she thinks. I like the two main characters in this story; it was easy to understand the world from their different points of view and I liked how both characters were able to stand up for themselves in their own ways. I thought the premise of the story was unique and told in a believable manner. I like the way things fit together in the end even if I didn't particularly like the ending. Many plot points were obvious from early on in the story, but I didn't really care, I still wanted to see how the characters would react. There was still a little mystery and a little angst, and that was enough for a good story.

Top notch writing by Peter Milligan and appropriately dark and moody artwork.
I think I was too young and too naive when I read this book in the summer of 1985. I recall being bored out of my mind by it but I kept reading it because all the cool kids at school read it. Perhaps this one deseves another look. Then again, maybe not.

Superb. The handling of a complex plot was breathtaking. In the hands of a lesser writer this novel would have had to be much longer than the tidy 200 pages it is. The characters are complex and so appealling. The emotion is sincere without being maudlin in the least. The lack of cynicism was so refreshing. The fearless march toward a 'happy' ending was thrilling

Best supply chain book EVER.
I expected to like this book; I didn't expect to love it. "Dr. Greg's" story could have ended with the successful building of a school in northern Pakistan, but I appreciated hearing about the difficulties he faced afterwards in expanding the Central Asia Institute and, of course, the threat the Taliban posed to his work. One encounters some fairly purple prose at times from co-author Relin ("shattered glaciers that hung like half-chewed meals from the flanks of shark-toothed twenty-thousand-foot peaks"), but I thought the structure of the book presented a great deal of information in an easily digestible manner. Also very interesting to learn why educating girls in poverty-stricken areas is so important to economic survival, not just an appealing egalitarian notion.

I thought The Borrower was humorous and clever. A 26-year-old children's book librarian inadvertently "kidnaps" a 10-year-old boy who visits her at the library all the time. The librarian thinks she's helping the boy escape his anti-gay-and-possibly-abusive Christian family, but she's really fulfilling a family legacy of running away. Don't worry. "Lolita" this is not. I liked how most of the book chapters had to do with the titles of children's stories. And I also liked that sometimes the author would start writing parts of the story to mimic the way certain children's books were written, such as "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie": "If you give a librarian a closet,...."
