I feel that the author is following a pattern. Both books are easily read and before you know it you are finished with the book. However, book one, vampire meets girl saves girl makes her immortal and they live happily ever after. Book two, the same. Please bear in mind that the stories presented are enjoyable and interesting but similar in plot.

I really enjoyed reading "The Namesake" and recommend seeing the movie after you've finished reading the book. I think that Lahiri does a better job with Gogol and his parents than she does with Maxine and the family and friends in New York. The Indian characters are more richly drawn than the more one dimensional American characters.

Beautifully clear prose - evocative with drowning in adjectives. The story was simple but I think it will stay with me for a long time.

Lesser Morrison. Premise is simple and execution is bland. The gag of killer animals speaking LOLCATS is cute. A bonus star for Quitely's fantastically detailed art. However, the attention to viscera does nothing for me.

Girls Just Wanna Have Gunsis like a "chicken soup" read for me--as is CHARMED AND DANGEROUS, the first book in this trilogy. When I need a good laugh and the chance to commiserate with someone who is having a day worse than mine, Bobbie Faye is my go-to character and Toni McGee Causey is my go-to writer. Between Trevor and Cam and their love for the hot mess that is Bobbie Faye (not to mention all that testosterone rivalry) and the predicaments in which Bobbie finds herself, these books are satisfying, entertaining, and down right fun. I can't believe I never read the third book, WHEN A MAN LOVES A WEAPON. That's soon to be rectified, as soon as it arrives in my mailbox!

Anyone familiar with ancient Greek comedy will recognize Aristophanes' Lysistrata immediately - the town women, led by a brazen spokeswoman, rally together and withhold sex until the men stop fighting. MacGregor takes a classic tale and spins it into a lighthearted Scottish romance. There's not a lot of angst, emotional connection, or even historical detail to take this story to the next level. Rather, we have Maggie, a plain jane character with ugly shoes, who's fallen in love with the town's Casanova, Braden. Maggie and Braden's romance seem unrealistic in my eyes, and I'd bet my bottom dollar that in today's world this mismatched couple would end up a divorce statistic. I'm holding out for Born in Sin, the main reason why I picked up this series to begin with. Here's to dark, emotionally damaged dangerous heroes.

Learned a lot about the culture in Saudi Arabia, reading this book. Liked the main characters, and hope that the author writes a sequel or more with them.
