Interesting in the beginning, but it dragged on too long, and was ridiculously repetitive. (Some events, names, and titles were mentioned numerous times. "I know," I'd think, "you already said that. SIX TIMES!") Hard to follow chronologically because the chapters seemed to incorporate events that followed the current theme the author was addressing. I wasn't always sure where I was chronologically when I was reading. All of this made for a very slow progression which became tedious towards the end. This book is an okay read, but if you are expecting a balanced representation of her experience with the Windsor family, you won't find it here. Diana had plenty of her own "issues" which obviously colored the way she told the story.

It's okay to dream again and to live life fully. Don't settle for second-best! Cheers!
A good reference for music geeks who read liner notes like they're the Torah.

A new look at Iran
After reading The Shining during the summer of '94 I thought I had found a new addiction to pair up with Grisham and Crichton. I know a lot of people get into Stephen King, but this was just fucking weird and left me not really wanting to continue through his oeuvre. I remember raving about The Shining to a girlfriend at the time and so she bought me this for my birthday in September. I don’t know why I got into The Shining so much, but for some reason this book just didn’t do it for me. I needed something a little more realistic, something a little more poignant to life, some sort of social commentary on the world I saw around me developing more and more into something that I felt, as a 14 year old, I wanted so terribly to understand – and this story about a woman jumping into a picture frame in a run-down hotel to escape her crazed husband just didn’t do it for me. Moreover, I think he kind of turned me away from S.K. for good….

My first time reading this author and I liked what I read. Think I'll look for more of this author's novels! From back cover: "He'd witnessed the ravages of war firsthand as an army special ops, but nothing could have prepared Wes Holden for the senseless death of his own wife and son-or the private nightmare that followed. An empty shell of a man, he is unable to do anything but survive. Until the day he walks into Ally Monroe's yard. Raised in the isolated mountains of West Virginia, Ally faces a bleak future spent caring for her stern widower father and two brothers. But that doesn't stop her from dreaming that a stranger might walk into her life and transform her lonely existence. A special bond forms between Wes and Ally. But as Wes emerges from his haze of pain, his soldier's instincts kick in. There's danger in the mountains, a place chosen to hide a thriving illegal drug business. Far worse, the threat is closing in on Ally, and time is running out..."
It took me a while to read but I did enjoy it. This guy just can't seem to get a break. He is an ordinary guy who can't get ahead. His wife is unaffectionate, his job stinks, his mother-in-law is living with them. Then his estranged brother leaves him a dry cleaning business that turns out to be a front for an escort service. Funny and tragic.

One of the better LDS authors I've read, I believe. No holes in the story, kept my attention, good mix of suspense and romance.

This is a fictional mystery about murders occuruing in the 1830's. It moves from the present when a body is found buried on a new home-owner's land to the time when the ancestors of the property are living in Boston experiencing medical school, grave robbing, poverty and MURDER! It is a very interesting read. I certainly glad that I live in the day of modern medicine!!!

I bet I have read this book six or seven times. Bryson is one of a handful of writers who can actually make me laugh. I mean, not just a "silent inward chuckle which doesn't necessary distract passersby"--a real laugh. I love his travel writing especially and this is my favorite. I highly recommend it, whether you ever plan to visit Australia or not.
