I enjoyed this book, I thought it was very interesting. It was especially interesting because I spent a week in Delft, Holland where we saw many of Vermeer's paintings, so I could really relate to this story.

This, the final installment of Jacqueline Carey's Naamah Trilogy is, unfortunately, my least favorite of her three-trilogy compilation in the "Krushiel-Naaman" world. It just seemed to fall a little flat. She usually has me riveted, but I found myself speed reading through the descriptive sections and skimming the "and we traveled a lot" sections, of which there were too many. I can't put my finger on why this one did not grip me, but it did not. Having said that, however, Jacqueline Carey's worst effort far surpasses the average. She still writes beautifully, and I will always be a fan. I think the crux of the problem might have been that she simply ran out of material for this world. Nine doorstop novels is more than enough, and I hope she moves on. Looking forward to picking up her new work.
This is an outstanding book that I could not put down. The story of the Boleyn family and a look into what was like a historic soap opera. I've heard that the sequels are also excellent.

I used the screenplay to write an essay: a psychoanalytic reading of fasion in The Talented Mr. Ripley. May be the best and most enjoyable paper I've written this year. Following the different jackets (Princeton, valet, corduroy, dinner jacket) in the movie I use Freud and Lacan to decipher Tom's motives in appropriating the identity of Dickie Greenleaf.

Eddie's Shorts:Vol II by M. Edward McNally Reviewed by Alex Canton-Dutari I am impressed by McNally's description of the intricacies of the human mind, which he aptly described in Eddie's Shorts Vol. I. This has been reinforced in the two stories in Vol. II. Brain Damaged I found to be a perfect reproduction of an actual case, with a very interesting climax. His descriptions and dialogues make the plots believable. Perhaps now I understand how Ed has evolved to writing historical fantasy… with a more mature prose.
Not a bad overview, but it was repetitive and I don't feel like it added that much to my understanding of the issues. I felt like it was mostly an explanation of administrative law and constitutional law and that I would have preferred to learn about more health policy specific issues.
A very interesting book on a subject I would never normally read. If you doubt Dan Brown is a good writer I suggest you read his lesser known novels to get a new appreciation for him.
