This was an excellent book. Transtromer has a unique style and a wonderful sense of language. I highly recommend his work.

Without a doubt one of the best books I've read. The characters are extremely well-developed and the wordplay is masterful. Highly recommended.

Another good entry into the MAISIE DOBBS series. I seem to be reading back to back books on the same subject matter. Following up Dick Francis' latest with a mental illness story line with this which gives a great account of 1932 England's treatment of the mentally ill. Of course there is a post-WWI story line as usual. Very suspensefull ending.
Inspirational for those who are seeking a Christian experience. The logic employed as proof of God's presence is subject to criticism, however.
This novel was one of the books that Rochester, NY reads. People keep raving about this book and perhaps I must read it again to appreciate it. However, I was constantly in search of the plot. The simple sentences lulled me into a dullness. The meaness of the uncle's teasing as the main way to show love to their nephew, a fatherless boy, was probably real. Yet,Jim was likeable. I attended a discussion with the author and he was interesting...perhaps tired by the time I heard him speak after a few days of book talks. I liked the book...that is it. When the author read a part of the book, it came alive. Comparing this book to To Kill a Mockingbird is beyond the beyond. Jim's life is dull compared to Scout's.

I must admit, I was not aware of the TNT TV series and grabbed this book in an airport newsstand. However, I found the book quite riveting...very much a page turner. Four of the main characters start driving from Jackson Hole, Wyoming for an overnight ski trip in December that ends in a terrible snowstorm with one person with a terrible injury, and the group is stranded in a very strangely deserted village--Kingdom Come. Maura Isles, Boston medical examiner is one of this group and gradually events worsen and things are found not to be what they initially seemed. Boston homicide policeman Jane Rizzoli is told Maura's remains have been found in a car crash so Jane heads to Montana to find out what happened to her close friend. The conclusion I never saw coming and so I will leave it for the reader to discover--I will say I intend to watch the TV show and read more of Ms. Gerristen's books.
**Disclaimer: I might be a bit biased, as I do have my own Marley at home.** It's been quite a while since I read a bestseller that I've enjoyed, but once Marley & Me became more about the family and less about the dog, I was touched. The writing is smooth and wonderful and the story is heartwarming, illustrating how great dogs are more than man's best friend, they're part of the family.

A rare animal, the epic poem, this one pulls off rekindling some hope for poetry. Phenomenological sketches of the effects of consumerism, an almost Hindu mysticism surrounding the accumulation and disposal of trash. Some bean-soaking, old geezer shit too.

I loved this one!!! I really liked Lucia and Garreth together as a couple, and I thought the sexual tension was great. I just wish the ending wasn't so abrupt.
