a well-written novel about Ernest Hemingway's first wife, Elizabeth ("Hadley"), and their life in Paris, France, and around Europe. most of the story takes place before Ernest finds his success with "the sun also rises". he is known for his philandering, and it's heart-breaking to read Hadley question her own self and their marriage. she is strong, though, even when Ernest falls in love with her friend, Paula, and they share their life for a period. in the end, Hadley finds true happiness, and is able to look back on her life with Ernest fondly.
Loved this book. Man I really wish to see Eve pregnant I wonder how she would react? She would probably kick the shit out of Roarke.

I purchased this book because of the rave reviews and just can't get into it, I've picked it up several times but I find it odd to read.

The title was the best part about this book. While the individual vignettes about the women were interesting, the book was written in a very dry, academic manner. It felt like I was reading a college textbook in a Women's Studies class. It appeared to be very well researched, and I liked that the author included women of many races and cultures throughout the ages. She did not include any women athletes at all, which I thought was odd.

For all the hype, I was expecting more vulgarity. I suppose working in a similarly male dominated field I have built up a tolerance to that sort of behaviour. Great insight to the culinary world and what it is really like in the kitchen. Bourdain is a wonderful story teller. My only complaint would have been a little more chronology in the book.
I read this is college in my non-western religions course and it's one that I've gone back to several times. It's a fun way to explore a religion unfamiliar to many Americans, all in the context of Winnie the Pooh and some of our favorite Pooh characters.
First reviewed here: http://overweight-bookshelf.blogspot.... If ever an inanimate object could be treated as a person, and treated poorly, it is this book. My dysfunctional relationship with this story spanned the extremes of emotional reaction: I laughed with it, screamed at it, sassed back at it, and-to my shame-slapped it around when things didn't go my way. But the jump from anger to love grew smaller and smaller until I couldn't let this book go. It embraced me like a warm blanket and soaked up my salty tears when my heart was overwhelmed. This story is raw and will chafe at your heart until you swing open the doors and let it to rejoice in its beauty. The characters in this story were so vivid that I could literally here there drawls, twangs, and whispers, and murmurs. Their points of view were unique and distinct, creating an intriguing complexity to the plot. While each and every one served a specific and irreplaceable purpose, it was Jeremiah who planted seeds of truth and hope in my heart that will resonate for a long time. This is not a book you can read in one go. As the characters, you need to move through the stages of happiness, mourning, and restoration with enough time to process and appreciate the journey and life lessons. Denise Hildreth Jones is an author that has never let me down and who continually breathes fresh life into the Christian contemporary fiction genre with her Southern wit, charm, and heart of gold. This book was amazing!! My only disappointment was that it wasn't long enough. Normally, David McCoullough's books are nice and lengthy and so detailed, I was shocked and disappointed not to see the entire life of TR told in this book.

Fletcher the fox is happily enjoying Springtime weather, until he sees snow! He runs to warn the other animals of the forest that winter is still around, and they should not come out yet (birds should fly back south, etc.) But they notice something odd about this snow of Fletchers, and maybe Spring is here afterall....
