A remarkable book. The voice is so bored and tired and worldly and dryly humorous. Incredible use of language. A recent widower returns to his childhood summer haunts by the sea. Very beautiful. Booker Prize.

Crime aficionados take heart. Half-brothers LAPD detective Harry Bosch and criminal defense lawyer Mickey Haller have return for another outing in Michael Connelly’s latest offering, THE REVERSAL. This time out, a series of events have placed both brothers on the same side in the re-trial and prosecution of a convicted child killer, Jason Jessup. The brothers are both fathers of daughters who are currently the same age as Jessup’s victim, so for them this trial touches them on a personal and well as a professional level. I will not go into a re-telling of this look at how politics and public opinion effect the legal system. Instead just let me state that this is a story with well-drawn forceful characterizations. Everyone from the two men themselves, to the recovering druggie sister of the victim and from Haller’s ex-wife Maggie to the slimy deal making D. A. are fully developed and engaging. Readers are also given an inside look at the inner workings of what passes for “the justice system” from the investigative techniques employed by Bosch to the legal maneuvering of Haller and his courtroom nemesis. This is probably as incisive and realistic a look as most of us will ever get at “people who venture naively into the justice system and leave the courtroom wondering what happened”. Guess we should all be prepared to expect the unexpected.

FANTASY!!! it was a cool book. im on the second now!
look into the holocaust from many perspectives. comprehensive collection of essays, you would be shocked to read some of this information.
Been wanting to read this since it came out in high school. Pretty disturbing, but pretty interesting. Good story line and ending. I really liked the alternate covers that showed zombified versions of real Marvel comics...
I found this story deeply touching. I had a constant fear that David would leave yet again, but I kept avidly reading because I truly wanted to know how everything worked out for these people. John's problems may not have been as obvious as David's were, but they were just as real. The change in the way he looked at David and himself was heartwarming. Jamie was the perfect supporting character – always there when they needed him most, offering advice and companionship to both John and David.

Freaky and fascinating... After reading both American Gods and Neverwhere, I can now say with 100% certainty that Neil Gaiman is both an amazing writer and a seriously twisted individual.

If this is truly where "The Wire" came from, count me in.
