Really wish Stephenie would finish this one... But goodness it will be a 900 pg book if she ever does. I liked Edwards POV, and I enjoyed reading it at the same time I'm re-reading Twilight.

UNEARTHLY BY CYNTHIA HAND Back Cover: In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . . Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy. Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side. As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny? Unearthly is a moving tale of love and fate, and the struggle between following the rules and following your heart. Summary: Clara has just had her first vision of a young man surrounded by flames in the heart of a forest. She knows nothing about him, she just knows she must save him. This mission is part of her purpose as an angel. That is why her mother, her brother and herself moved all the way from California to Wyoming. Between a delicate Integration in her new school, her meeting with Christian, the boy she must save, and her unstable powers to control, Clara has to train a lot and face the dangers inherent to her angel's status. A busy, orderly and mysterious lives that Tucker, the brother of her best friend, will put upside down. Could she succeed her mission and follow her destiny in these conditions? Impressions: After several stories read about angels, I was expected a plot with a lot of "Déjà Vue". I was happy to be wrong. I've enjoyed the writing of Cynthia Hand: simple and effective. She was able to intrigue me through the visions of Clara and takes me to the last pages with flying colors. Even if I said, "everything only for this crap" when Clara carrying out her mission, (I admit I was a little disappointed) no sooner had I uttered these words that the author captured me again by writting an end full of promise for the next opus. I had a great time reading those 260 pages and was attached to the characters. Although I saw Tucker's role in the story came from far away, I must have had a soft spot for him because my guessing has not take away my enjoyment. As for Clara, she is written in a way that shows both her strength and flaws. Great and strong female lead. « Unearthly » is also novel where I found the friendly atmosphere of the film "A River Runs Through It" with Brad Pitt in the fly fishing lesson. But also a bit of suspense, intrigue with the visions and the presence of evil fallen angels. I'll wait "Hallowed" late January and read it with great pleasure. Surprising novel. Charming! I liked the characters much better than in the first book and enjoyed the format - a series of well crafted tales. It is the reward for laboring through the first book.

Read pre-ublication Upon first putting this book down, I wasn't quite sure how I felt about it. Not much had happened. It wasn't really scary. It wasn't really suspenseful. But when I continued to contemplate upon the matter, I realised that I actually really enjoyed it. It has a picturesque setting; it has a moody atmosphere; the characters are realistic (and there's a nice little twist to one of them that is revealed more fully towards the end). I think I may have been unsure in the first instance because I was looking to get the wrong experiences out of it. This isn't a horror story and it doesn't have any action at all - it's one to sit back, relax and enjoy without any preconceptions.

Read this in college. I don't remember much, except that I was pretty confused but highly entertained.

This would be a great book for the first day of class. Students will be able to relate to her situation, being nervous and worrying. I could also use it for students who worry a lot or before tests. For math, I could use this ......

I'm having a really difficult time getting into this book. I read the first couple of chapters and lost interest pretty quickly, even though I love the fantasy genre. I haven't been able to bring myself to actually read the whole thing, hence the missing rating. It just didn't hook me fast enough. I will give it another look eventually, but I'm sort of... stuck.
USA Today was correct when they said this was the one of best book of the summer! It is set in the neighborhood where my mom grew up so I could picture the houses, grocery store, her elementary school, ect. It is well written and a fun quick read.
