Ok, some of the vocabulary used in this book is now considered politically incorrect, but the curriculum itself is super: leisure/travel, home & work, understanding self & others, managing ones body, communication.

Reason for Reading: next in the series Volume Three is all action! Max Damage and the new Jailbait set off to take out the crazed "skinhead" followers of Plutonian who are armed with nuclear weapons and causing much damage. Max and J. meet up with an old friend of Plutonian's who joins their group and the new Jailbait is given her own new superhero name. From the old friend we learn a lot more about Plutonian's past from a different angle but mostly this volume is action scene after action scene with a fair amount of dry humour added for relief. Just what was needed at this point in the storyline. Domingues returns as the artist for the first two chapters and as I stated in my review for volume 2 I do not like his portrayal of M.D. The occasional downright goofy looks on his face are just not in character at all. What a thrill it was to see a new artist take over for the last two chapters, Marcio Takara, who incidentally is the only artist credited on the cover. Takara's style is much more raw, and Max is back to his masculine, powerful, dangerous looking character. A happy ending as we see our new trio running off together.

So much more gripping than Serpent's Tale, the book before it in the series. The action is faster paced. Rather than just riffing on the same social themes that made Mistress of the Art of Death successful, Ms. Franklin introduces us to new ones, particularly Henry's legal reforms. The use of Arthurian legend in the story isn't cheesy like many applications out there, and leaves the reader desperate to know what's coming next.

Poignant coming of age book with various scenarios of different teenagers dealing with the difficult job of growing up. Gary Soto is truly amazing the way he paints a realistic picture with words.

There are so many good reviews on here for this work, so I will refrain from expounding anymore than that I found it a fast moving, sometimes funny and overall very good novel. Ivanhoe, the character came across as predictably dull and was not around for a significant part of the book. Other characters like Richard, Bois-Guilbert, Front-de-Boeuf, and Locksley all provided ample entertainment (even Wamba gives more reason to keep reading than the titular "hero").
This is probably my all time favorite book. And not just because I'm a pervert. I love to curl up on the couch reading this book, and giggle as if I'm doing something wrong. I imagine thats how people felt reading it when it was first written.

Falling prices...and how big companies around the world are able to get products so cheap! This is a good overview of how China is able to be the big producer for the rest of the world and it explains what the true costs are to the Chinese people.
Fun, but written by a criminal whose main objective was to make the Arthurian legends a decidedly french story. Lancelot was entirely fictional, a french knight whose stories were aimed at inflating the french ego, (how coulg Gawain, an englishman from the Orkneys, be the greatest knight in the world?) However, Mallory provided some of the earliest tales and has drawn the picture of what the Arthurian legends have become in modern culture. Despite the impossibilities of historical accuracy, (as far as we know, Arthur MAY have lived, just not like that) Mallory is always a good read.
