Bought from Amazon, and I still own a copy. APART OF THE GOODREADS 2012 READING CHALLENGE. Review/Rating: 4 out of 5 Ease of Reading Text: 4 out of 5 Illustrations: 5 out of 5 Plot: 5 out of 5 Art Touch-Up: 1 out of 5 Translation: 5 out of 5 Design: 5 out of 5 Alice is not alone in her mission to find and bring back her sister. Kyo is now a Lotis Master like her, however, they are not the only ones who fight against the darkness. Frey appears and offers them help with bringing back Mayura, but will all three of them be enough to save her from the darkness? This manga series is a really good page-turner — both the the plot and characters are really interesting. The manga-ka has made an interesting story by giving it a fantasy twist — by using the Lotis words to help people and giving power to hurtful words. Which isn’t really all that different from real life, if you think about it. The plot is really starting to develop, and this volume gives you a little bit more information about the Lotis Masters. ;) Not only is the plot starting to develop, the characters are as well. Alice is still kind of weak, but she is slowly starting to discover what courage and strength means. :) You will also get some more information on Kyo. :P Also, even the side characters have more of a personality, like why Oishi is mean to other people. However, my favorite character so far is Frey, even though he is really meant as a comic relief. xD Oh, and the artwork still looks wonderful — I love the character’s designs. :D Now for why there is a Boy x Boy tag. This is also one of my favorite moments, however, it is not really a spoiler moment. :P Anyways, it is when Kyo accidentally kisses Frey. However, their lips don’t actually touch, their faces just get really close together. xD Also, they are in just towels… *drools* :D Overall, the plot and characters have great development. It was still a pretty good read. ;) For VIZ’s part in this manga, their art touch-up is still really bad. Also, some of the lines weren’t fully redrawn. There is also one part where they didn’t edit out all of the Japanese and you can see half of the SFX. However, their translation and everything else was pretty much okay. ;) Overall, the art touch-up was much worse than the first volume, but it’s still pretty average. :S

I'm halfway through this book. I'm not in love with the way its written -- it's dense and poorly organized. The information doesn't seem to be delivered in the linear fashion I want for a book thats meant to be read through and not just referenced. The preface even goes so far as to say "Read section 1, then section 3, then look back at section 2 and then read section 4 if you want". However --- The information itself is gold. This book really unlocks the mystery of how, when and why to use a template instead of traditional inheritance/virtual function. For that I am indebted to it.

Terrible book with a hilarious premise: the editor-in-chief of Harvard Law Review is murdered and the other Law Review editors are all suspects. Would be really funny (if unintentionally so), but for some reason drifts off into a bizarre love triangle.

For when I crave a dark piece of chocolate. Save The Dead for last.

I certainly feel for Nora--she means well and yes, patriarchy sucks, but I found her such a challenging character to like. I didn't like her when she was a silly housewife, and I didn't like her when she gained independence. Actually, now that I think about it, the fact that I find her such a troubling character is pretty revealing. Obviously I can't stand her when she's a helpmeet, but I really didn't like her once she abandons her marriage (and as a result, her children). It seems I'm not as liberal as I like to think I am.
Don't let the title of this book scare you off. You don't need to be an academic or math genius to understand it. This is one of those books I wish every person would read before leaving high school or college because it teaches you how to think for yourself and to look objectively at claims made by activists and politicians on both sides of the aisle. It's never too late to learn these things. Having these skills will help you understand things, think for yourself, and avoid being tricked or scammed by some fast-talking salesman playing fast and loose with the facts.

I LOVED Vigilante! I've read four books by Robin Parrish ('Relentless', 'Fearless', 'Merciless', and 'Vigilante') and 'Vigilante' is definitely my favorite. The story was very addicting - there was suspense throughout and the plot was great! THE WICKED HAVE HAD THEIR DAY. MORALITY'S TIME HAS COME. THERE IS A BETTER WAY. Nolan Gray has a plan. Kill himself, then show the world a "better way" by defending the helpless and stopping crimes. He does just that - only it doesn't turn out the way he planned... I found 'Vigilante' very entertaining and thrilling. Nolan's character was intriguing - the fact that he dealt with so much from when he was a POW for two years and still lived with the scars (both physical and psychological) made his character believable and made me feel for him. Robin Parrish wrote 'Vigilante' in a way that had me believing the story. I found the gadgets that 'The Hand' used very cool - especially the combat fatigues and grappler. 'Vigilante' made me think about the depravity of man. No matter what someone tries to do to stop the wrong in this world, until Jesus Christ comes again, there will still be sin and there will still be death. I think 'Vigilante' is best suited for mature audiences, as it mentions things that I feel wouldn't be appropriate for younger audiences. Overall 'Vigilante' was a great book - I thoroughly enjoyed it! I look forward to reading more books by Robin Parrish in the future. I most definitely recommend 'Vigilante' if you enjoy reading novels that keep you entertained and "on the edge of your seat". *Much thanks to Bethany House Publishing for my review copy. The opinions I've expressed are my own.*

I read this book last year for my coming of age novel and at first I hated it. This is the type of book where it is not just about the writing. You need to fully understand the story before you can really like the book. When I just read the book I thought that it was good, but I didn't really get it. After my mom explained it to me, and I watched the movie, I really understood what it meant and I liked it a lot more. The book is about a little girl named Scout but it is actually about more. It is about class and race and courage. It is a very touching book that I recommend for anyone in 8th grade or up.

I love Evelyn Waugh. This lot are filthy in a capricious and decadent way, I'd like to emulate.

I'm only about 200 pages in (so less than a third through this monster of a book), but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. I had never read Dan Simmons before, but he is a genius.
